...Because the last reference sucked so bad.As you can see here, I have finally gotten my butt in gear and made Lateon a REAL updated ref. Because people keep asking me, "What picture do I use for a reference?"
So yeah.
I've changed a few things about how I draw him.
1: Probably the biggest and most noticeable change, his mouth. I no longer draw it anime-style. Where it's on the side of his face.

2: He now has shown teeth. Weird.
3: And a tongue. Also weird.
4: I'm using a bit more blue shading instead of the standard gray that I usually use.
But yeah, I'll probably think of something else really important to put here AFTER I post it.
So possible updates in the future.
Left as downloadable so people can actually USE it as a reference.

Sry, this is my first critique, so bare with me.
You have a good amount of information there, but perhaps too much.
The eyes though, for a latios should be bigger, as well as the wings should be straighter and longer. Also, the mouth should be bigger. Plus the arms are way to thick for a latios. They should be much thinner.
But what I do like about the ref is your color choices. I also love the glowing effect. Same with the body overall. Its not to long, too short, to tiny or big. And the tailfins look gorgeous in my opinion.

I apologize, I was gone when you left this critique, and apparently they have an expiration date on accepting them.
I can explain a bit better about Lateon however, in fact, it even says so on the picture itself.
He's not a Latios.
He's a new Lati species, that being a Lateon.
That is why he's so much larger than a Latios, and why his build and form are different than one.
The color choices came from my obsession withthe color combination of black and green. More of a lime green as well. Glad to see another with a fandom of such. ;D

I don't wish to sound rude. But I have no clue what people see in your OC. No offence but this is just a Latios with a recolor change and a green jewel slapped on the back of it. On top of that you didn't draw the jewel right its supposed to have cracks in it. What you want to work on is a 3D appearance for the jewel.Β
This eon has a lot of potential but it needs to be changed. try maybe taking the arms off and adding some stain glass wings to help enforce the crystal theme of it. I'd also recommenced getting more complex with the colors. Brown and green go well together as they represent Earth. Maybe change the neck color to brown.
There are a lot of ears to chose from too. Maybe you could do Umberons ears or even Ninetails ear style to think outside the box a bit more. Diancie is out now and its Crystal themed try taking inspiration from other pokemon that have the theme you want to use. Β Again cool Eon but it needs work.

Have you read The Commission Chronicles? If not, then you might do that. Though it's by no means acceptably-written in my opinion, since I wrote it so long ago, it still explains his backstory. His personality, and it was through THAT that people grew attached to him. Lateon isn't his design. He isn't his colors, he is his personality and the way he acts. As he is basically one of the... Two characters I use to represent myself, people see Lateon as myself, and vice-versa in a way. He is an avatar.
His design, is simplistic, and yet different. He doesn't require to be overdesigned in order to be unique. Do that, and you wander easily into sparkledog territory. (For example: Stained glass? Really? Why of all things, stained glass wings on a living creature? His crystal is enough of a stretch.) Also, his crystal doesn't NEED cracks, not every gemstone has cracks. Go to a jewelry store and tell me how many diamonds you see with cracks in them.
As for colors, why would I choose someone ELSE's favorite color scheme for a character I use to represent myself? I choose black and green, because that is my favorite color combination. Besides, he's not an earth elemental creature. He doesn't make things out of plants, or dirt. Really all that would do is make him look like a giant mint chocolate confection.
I also chose his current ear design because it was still a Lati design. Once again, if you had read the story, you would understand. He's not a fusion of several different pokemon, he's a fusion of a human, a bizarre powerful crystal, and a LATIOS. The Latios is the only pokemon in there, and thus his design should reflect as such.
In closing, your comment befuddles me, because it sounds more overly-opinionated than actually... How shall I say, constructive criticism.
I designed Lateon as he is. You said to take inspiration from pokemon that have the theme I want to use.
And the theme I wanted to use, was the Lati. Thus that is what I chose.

Β I just wanted an answer that was all and yeah I read your story and got to the part were Lateon beat Mewtwo and it felt very unrealistic as it made the character seem OP. I also got up to the chapter were Lateon lost to Palkia in truth he should have lost to BOTH Pokemon. I hope you know that it is also consider externally disrespectful to disrupt any form of canon material in any fandom I've looked at your reference sheets for your OC and some of the attacks are two type attacks. That doesn't bother that not only are you again disrupting canon material but overpowering the OC?Β
There is only one move in the history of moves that has duel typing. This goes to Flying Press. But here's the difference its Hawlucha signature move. You have three or four different moves that are duel typing. The only move that should even be duel typing by canon standers is an OC's signature move. No offence but I still feel you could at least work on maybe trying to fix your OC's power levels. I know its hard to make your OC balanced I sure as hell didn't want Aeridusa to lost to sora from Kingdom Hearts in my Demolition series but I had to realize that I couldn't have her winning all the time. I did the research and wrote down the powers, and weakness of both sides. When I was done with the results it came down to Sora being the winner. As much as I don't care for Kingdom Hearts or Sora anymore I had to face the facts. As for the reason I tell you to change the design its because it feels like its a violation of copyright law here in the USA. Even if you don't plan to make money off this OC or even submit it to Nintendo at least make the OC not look like it violates copyright in your respective country. You never know when you may want to go back to school and get into the gaming industry and who knows if you do and Lateon gets approved for a game I'd love to see this eon of yours become the leader for a trio.

I'm not afraid to admit, maybe he is a bit OP, but that's not actually the point. What is, is the original topic here was that you were criticizing my decision to design him the way that he looks. And you then just shrug it off like several paragraphs of opinion were just to get a response? I'm not buying that.
Also yeah, I am aware he has more than two types. I wanted to keep the original two, but then give him something else that was more fitting to the idea I had. And of course to imply that he actually had more of a reason to be powerful because of what he did or was supposed to accomplish. And as a younger guy, I gave him three types cause why not, that sounded cool. Also, I am well-aware of the OP/not-OP type argument and whatever. I'm not new to the internet, or to fan characters. So, grats on your story, I guess?
Aaaand now is where your comment starts getting really weird. Copyright law? Really? That's a bizarre claim when you think over the scope of things here.
Do you have even the slightest idea how many OCs there are from people all across the world? And you're... 'warning' me about my ONE character, and copyright law regarding it?
If Nintendo decided to crack down on people creating Pokemon OCs, do you honestly think that would actually stop people? Much less go for mine when there are literally OCs that are a regular pokemon, but like, with a bow?
Also, I have no desire to get into the gaming industry, I have zero expertise there. Nor do I possess any inkling to pursue a game including or about Lateon, because such a desire is completely absurd. Pokemon does not include people's OCs in their works. They never have, and I would bet anyone money that they never will. Because they know the kind of floodgates that would open. I have always been somewhat aware of the fact that technically OCs are kind of illegal. And yet at the same time, they expand knowledge of the base product they originated from. In short,: they are a form of advertising. Pokemon would not be as big as it is today were it not for fanart and OCs, and Nintendo knows that. To attack people for merely having OCs would be PR suicide.
Final thoughts: I feel like you're trying to be helpful. I think. But it's really not coming off that way.

Well anyway I've only got one think to say I'd love to see a remake of your series for Lateon I think once again you have a lot of potential and are going in the right direction. I think a remake of your first story would be wonderful to see. Since I bet you've improved so much as a writer. Anyway I think were done here I'm incapable of helping anyone on the site and hoped to give some advice but I can see now that it backfired oh well.Β
