Thanks, it works fine now, and I love it. Fav+

Although, I was wondering if you could make another color style. I have some skins for my other programs, and I was hoping you could make or already have a matching skin.

Basically, what it is is exactly the same as your skin, except the window color (the color of the bar around the window) would be a lighter gray color, like the one found in here: [link]

thnx and im glad its working fine. and i personally din't like the style you show'd me . i am just gonna keep this VS how it is.. and people are fully welcome'd to modify it FOR PERSONAL USE ONLY or they could ask to release there mod.. ;but right now im keeping this skin the same.. sorry..man.. if you want you should modify it ur self and since its just the Caption(border) its really eazy you can modify it using Resource Hacker just make sure the image is the same size.. or download StyleBuilder from TGTsoft.com its not free but it dose have a 30 day trial ..

I am having a small problem with it.

I move all of the files into my themes folder (The QueVista folder and both Theme files). When I try to apply the Theme files from the desktop settings panel thingy, IT brings up the Please Wait minicreen, but when it's done, it has applied the Windows Classic Theme, although it says it has the QueVista theme applied.

if ur Appling it from the Themes Selector maybe you should try appling it from the Appearences Tab., and also make sure your Themes Folder looks like this [link] if it looks the same and your Appying it from the Themes Tab .. and QueVista? dosn't appear in the Apppearences Tab then.. you must not have ur UXTHEME.DLL FILE PATCHED.. you can patch it with Style XP (VisualStyles program)(Not Free $19) or find ur self a Uxtheme patcher(free) .. ok well hopefully this info helped you.. if not get back at me..

hi thanks for your reply.

I did see the previous posts regarding this problem. i've replaced ALL the explorer.exe files in the different locations with the new one (size 1.54Mb) but to no avail. I've also seen the post for editing the file using reshacker which quotes.....

- Go to C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllcache and rename explorer.exe eg. to explorer_org or delete it

- Start ResHacker and open C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe

- Go to string table 439, line 7012 and then delete the complete line including the whole "7012"-tag

- Compile the scrip and then save the exe

- If File-Protecion is enabled, then cancel it and say that you want to keep the new version of the file

- Reboot and it should work now!

.......Unquote

the problem for me is that when i open explorer.exe with reshacker and go to the string Table 439 it gives me all this code....quote....

STRINGTABLE
LANGUAGE LANG_ENGLISH, SUBLANG_ENGLISH_US
{
7012, "|Undock Comput&er|&|&|D&isconnect||"
7013, "|Undock Comput&er|&Log Off|Sh&ut Down|D&isconnect||"
7014, "Removes your laptop or notebook computer from a docking station."
7015, "Provides options for closing your programs and logging off, or for leaving your programs running and switching to another user."
7016, "Provides options for turning off or restarting your computer, or for activating Stand By or Hibernate modes."
7017, "Disconnects your session. You can reconnect to the session when you log on again."
7020, "&Search"
7021, "&Help"
7022, "&Windows Security"
7023, "&Run..."
}

......unquote.

Should i be deleting line 7012? or should it really be line 7013? I ask because of the obvious quotes in the code of line 7013 i.e. "|Undock Comput&er|&Log Off|Sh&ut Down|D&isconnect||" and i don't really know what all this means as i don't know anything about this. Please could you advise.

PS since using QueVista, and investigating Windows Vista, i have come to realise that this is THE best style of Vista. it's identical to what i've seen so far of the Windows Vista. nice one mate. brilliant! keep up the great work.

Many thanks

well my friend.. i know an ezyer way of modifying ur explorer.. just use

LSPatch - and i belive this is an app created by Windows X
| ^[link]
|
^ and it will also restore ur Log off Shutdown Text if you want to use it for other VS's

but before if apply the patch make sure the Explorers aren't modified.. you can check this by making sure line 7012 has the ""|Undock Comput&er|&Log Off|Sh&ut Down|D&isconnect||"" like line 7013 if both Explroers are ok (C:\windows, C:\windows\system32\dllcache) then you may apply the patch with no problems and when u want ur text back just run the patch again.. and restore it.!! its ezy man.. if you need any more help im here .. if you want 2 add me 2 ur msn list or yahoo(since WLMessenger now works with yahoo) you may..

acamarillo956@hotmail.com

and right now.. i am currently working on a new verson of QueVista... and also im working on QVMP(QueVistaMediaPlayer)-(VisualStyle)

Hi! This VS looks awesome! Great work!
Just a quick question though, is altering my explorer.exe reversible? And is it safe to change it?
Please advise.
Thanks a lot!

yea man it sure is.. all you have to do is back up your Explorer.exe file you always have to just incase you mess is up..

right now i am away from home.. since my baby is premature.. and is in another hospital ..

and i am not able to work much on my VS's since we go home.. once every two weeks.. and that will delay release time of QueVista? 2 and QueVista?MediaPlayer (WMP11 VS) there sure is alot of fixes and new features on the skins.. QueVista2 will contain 2 Color Schemes one for Modified Explorer and the other for non Modified Explorers so people who have explorer modified and those who don't can use it and the same thing goes for QueVista?MediaPlayer

i will soon return home and i will finish and release my VS's

also i am practicing some work on WB5 Skinning so i will probly make QueVista? 2 and QV?MP have Transparancies and more effects..

thats it...

thnx 4 ur comment

excellent theme. many thanks indeed for taking the time to create it.

One Q/problem....
On the start menu, the log on/off button (the padlock button) has text next to it on the right which says "log off", unfortunately this is pushing the shutdown button of the startmenu window over to the right so I can only see about 10% of the orange shutdown button (which I presume will also have text on the right of it). Is there any way to correct this so that NO text appears. Im running Win XP Pro SP 2 & 3.

Many thanks and regards

yes you are able to remove the Text from these buttons by modifing Explorer.exe found in C:\windows\

this package comes with a modified Explorer.exe so you don't have 2 modify it . but if you preffer to mod it ur self go right ahead. you will need a program kalled Resource Hacker

ok.. well i don't know how to help u then my friend, i can't think of anything els .. but the reason QueVista was applied like that was because you disabled StyleXP and by disabling it .. it reverts the UXTHEME file back to its original form .. meaning that ur xp won't be able to use other VS's. If you hit the appearence tab you will not see any other VS's but Luna and Windows Classic. There Should be No problem with my VS but maybe there is a problem with ur XP Communicating with the VS. YOu get me?

Also the Safe MNode thing worked great. The buttons are fine no just for the user image

ok the display manager is found by right clicking anyway were on the desktop just make sure its a clean spot then click on properties in the sub menu that appears and thats the Display manager. you can change Themes, wallpapers, screensavers, Visualstyles, and screen settings. you may use this instead of StyleXP

also what is the original size of ur User pic?

Try Rebooting in SafeMode that always is the Answer to the Replacement of system files

ok

Rebooting in SafeMode
--------------------------
# Click Start, Run and type MSCONFIG in the box and click OK
# The System Configuration Utility appears, On the BOOT.INI tab, Check the "/SAFEBOOT" option, and then click OK and Restart your computer when prompted.
# The computer restarts in Safe mode.
# Perform the troubleshooting steps for which you are using Safe Mode.
When you are finished with troubleshooting in Safe mode, open MSCONFIG again, on the BOOT.INI tab, uncheck "/SAFEBOOT" and click OK to restart your computer
--------------------------

and you should know how to replace the Explorer.exe file just like you tried before

this theme is awesome, i just have a problem with the start menu cutting off the shutdown button... i tried the whole 'rename and replace explorer' thing, but it always reverts back to the original one, it's very frustrating... aside from that it's an awesome theme, keep up the good work

ok Explrorer is located in the following directories(top most important)

[driveletter]:\Windows\system32\dllcache (need to show hidden files/folders, extencions, Protected operating system files)

replace Explorer there (remember to back up the original explorer)

[driveletter]:\Windows\system32 [maybe there]

replace explorer there

[driveletter]:\Windows\ (actual explorer location)

replace it there

you will/might get Windows System Messages to insert Windows Setup disk. Never do this, since it will bring back ORIGINAL XP system files back
cancel all messages
------------------

kill explorer from Taskmanager -> processes tab Look for Explorer.exe in the list and "End Process"

then on TaskManager click on Applications Tab and then "New Task"

and find the Explorer file and ok

it should work now IF you have replaced Explorer Correctly

if not then Restart.

if u get further problems plez post again..
