yeah, thing was, it was focus on her, but i dont get it, i got the perfect light, just as i want it ont he stage, and i have the right time fixed on the exposure settings, but it gets grainy and... fu*ked up, so, i don't rly know what to do :/

there's a feature on the d40 called auto iso which lets the camera choose what iso it thinks is best. If you are shooting a low light shot, it may try and boost the iso and make your image gritty and noisy looking.
