It's okay. It was difficult for me to stay in touch anyway.

I love Amano's style. You've emullate it well and added a bit of your own to it. Good job!

You've emulated Amano's style quite well (and I'm a huge fan of Amano's style, so that's saying something). I like the way you've managed to do this in the pencils. It adds a bit more definition to the visual without detracting from the effect. The soft colors and haziness overall is itself effective as an allusion to Terra's character: distinctive, yet still a bit nebulous, and lovely no matter how you look at it.
Excellent work.

Wow, thanks! You gave REALLY good feedback, which I always appreciate, whether it be praise or constructive criticism. And you seem really knowledgeable on it, too.

You did a great job. I actually like your Amano-style more than Amano's! Not to mention you used Green Haired Terra.

A lot of people enjoy that I used the green hair rather than the random white-yellowish hair...O_o Bur I absolutely LOVE Amano's work, he's an amazing artist, and so much better than I'll ever be. But I'm really honored that you liked my version. Thanks!

Thanks! I love Terra, too, but I haven't even finished the game yet! DX I hadn't even gotten to the "end of the world" thing, when Kefka rules the world.

Good to see you gave her green hair. It gives her more character... her original blonde hair didn't do her much justice at all.

Yeah thats pretty amazing but since your forte is pencils I would have mixed a little bit of both so you still have your pencil foundation or like use water color pencils...but they never come in enough colors. But over all I think you did a good job (I think you did better then the originals but thats just me)

I know, I know, I needa just get some damn watercolors! And I'm not a very big fan of watercolor pencils--tried 'em once in art class, and although I seemed to do pretty well with them, I just...didn't seem to warm up with them. Like I said, suck with wc. Thanks, Sammy! Love you! (Really? 'Cause I think Amano pwns any work I might try of his...*shrugs*)

Onicon is the Houston convention in October--I thought you knew that! XD I don't know who I'm going as yet, and I've been really considering it carefully. Since this might be my last con for like, ever, I'd like to go with something really cool and memorable! But since making costumes (especially the harder ones) is so expensive, I might not be able to make a new one. If I don't, I'll probably just go as Kenshin again.

Hey! Finally some new artwork--but I guess I can't talk.
Anyways, I do like this new style and congratulate you on attempting a watercolor effect with normal colored pencils, however, you should give watercolors a try--just to expand your boundaries some more. And, I always think it's wonderful that you decided to try a new style--I know it's not always easy and there's the fear that people may not like it, but as an artist, it's always a great challenge trying to push yourself. Excellent job, as always.

Wachan In reply to heavenisinmyhead [2007-07-18 17:23:28 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, problem is I needa get some watercolors to start with! _D_ I'm glad you support my experimentation--I make it sound like I gave Terra three eyes or something. And I know what you mean about people not liking it. Not many people seem to like my Amano-style that much, but I think it's lovely! So there!...What do you think of it? Just wondering.

heavenisinmyhead In reply to Wachan [2007-07-19 03:43:34 +0000 UTC]
You know, even though people might not like this new style...I wouldn't worry so much, because I think as an artist, you create art more for yourself and not so much for others. Art is something you do for your enjoyment and self expression and if people like it, that's great, but if they don't it shouldn't be such a big deal. That's how I look at art, at least. I don't know if you'd agree with me or not!
To be honest, the only thing that kind of bothers me are her eyes...perhaps it's because they're so light colored, but it almost seems as if she doesn't have any pupils...but other than that, it really is beautiful!

Wachan In reply to heavenisinmyhead [2007-07-20 00:27:24 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, you are right. But you know me, I'm still going to spend time out of my precious life worrying about how people post that they don't like it. I think it's funny how some will say they don't like it (the style), but it's still good. That's always pretty amusing. XP
Oh, yeah, they eyes kinda bother me, too sometimes. You know I'm used to defining the eyes and putting a lot of detail and care into them. Some things about this picture made me feel really empty as an artist compared to what I normally do, like the skin--hardly any of it is actually colored, which freaked me out! And yes, there are no pupils. Amano draws very ambiguous, delicate eyes. There were several instances where I wanted to just run a black pen over them and fill them out like a normally do, but I knew it would destroy the style I was shooting for, and possibly ruin the picture if I put too much emphasis on the eyes... Anyway, glad you liked it, Nicole!

Well, my forte's mostly been with pencils, and besides, I don't have any watercolors at my disposal at the moment...even if I did, I'd suck with them. I love you for being able to at least use them!
I have "looked" at the cosplay, but if you mean tried it, then nope, still haven't. I haven't cosplayed or gone to a con since I was 16, and I'm almost 18 now. I'm thinking about giving it one last shot before I lose interest and have to focus on other things. And I'm not surprised you've been an Amano fan. I've known about him for a long time, too, but I didn't actually like his work all that much until just recently. I guess it was just out of the blue that his art suddenly struck me as awesome.
And...WHAT?!!! He's at Onicon--as in this coming October?! I'm so going, then! I was playing with the thought of one last con, but if Amano's gonna be there, then Hell yeah. I should try to do an Amano cosplay! *sniggerKefkasnigger* No way...
And I find blonde Terra odd, too. When I searched for references that was pretty much all I could find--and it pissed me off! Green-haired Terra is the only Terra!
