Done on the inside cover of my book Fortified Excrement(s). Was a bit tricky to work on such slick glossy paper. It was fun to work on a new surface with media I hadn't really used in the past. Working 'sloppy' can be dah bomb! Tried to mix it up a bit, thought you cats might dig seeing something...

Work is "alright, not too bad". Been working on some painful large pieces and tons of plotting and preliminary experimentation. Hard to explain.

'Bout to go through your gallery here now to freshen up on your stuff again, been a while since I've had a chance to check it out. Always loved your rendering and sense of stylization on the figure. Prime pro-go quality always. I'm never on CAF anymore, rarely anyway unless I'm really hunting for a certain old cover or something. Schooling just cradle one's creativity and craft. Source and teaching one self to use that is what is important, or what makes us deliver.
Art center... No. Link me though, I'm curious to 'look'.
Me, I got my BFA and undergrad degree with a focus in illustration and fine art at Iowa State University. Then after I did freelance and caricature for 2 years. After that I moved to NYC for 3 years to get my MFA at the New York Academy of Art. > [link]

Cheerz. Yeah I'm always trying to play with anatomical knowledge and distorting it and formulating it in new ways. Lots of work I do not show here as well. Some have far more playful experimentations and always doing several different styles in the private work.

this came out raw, man. gonna do my badhair this week (finally). i like the feel to this (lil more graphy than hales traditional badhair style)

I dig this as well, interesting feel for sure. Not sure what you mean by 'lil more graphy than Hale's... Course it's diff I know, Hale does use photo ref, I just pulled this out my ass. In the future I'll be doing some Badhair's with ref, as well as some other characters, but that's a bit top secret as of now.

well what i mean by more graphy is 'more graffiti'-ish than the source, not so much in badhairs case, but a lil more to do with the overall composition and the robots he's fighting. i like the feel you bring to it a lil more than some of the pics u sent me (although they are indeed all relevant examples of badassery. and yeah, my piece should be up by next week, barring attacks from mechs.

Good shit, good to hear Jake! Yeah Hale has been a huge inspiration to me for the last ump-teen years. Especially the last 3-4 and I'm beginning to develop a new body or work with a newer stylistic touch that you will probably be seeing these qualities more down the road. Can't really post any of it just yet, but thanks for chiming in bud.
