3D max is a 3d software, used for lot many things from movies,animation,architectural visualizations...
and vray is a software which can be used for rendering and lighting with max.

Very nice piece, the depth of field makes you focus right on the globe. Im pretty sure u said u use max-vray, but it says may,vray and I was wondering if u can use vray in maya? i dont think you can, but it would be a nice change since i always use mental ray. Have you used MR, and if so do u like VR better?

yes its max vray, but there is vray for maya also, though i've never used it. i also works on mental ray, some of the images in my gallery are done with MR.
and for me MR and Vray, both are same, it depends on what are u rendering, so it comes into planing at the start, which one to use. but as per me vray with high settings takes longer to render but gives more better quality tham MR
