Description This is a contest submission to [link] This scene comes from the 1200 ad German version (Nibelungenlied) of the story of Siegfried, the dragon slayer. Siegfried wishes to marry Kriemhild, but her brother, Gunther, wants Siegfried to help him win the hand of Brunhilde, a warrior maiden of Odin. Brunhilde agrees to marry the man who can best her in throwing a spear and a rock, but will kill those who fail. With Siegfried hidden under his invisibilty cloak, Gunther defeats Brunhilde and so makes her his wife.
