I made this about a week ago for Ponychan's /merch/ hair styling thread. It kinda started off as a joke but I added more to it and actually made it decent.It's just a guide on how to style your Rarity without using any tools. All you need is some shampoo/conditioner and (hot) water.

Did you cut her hair? I tried this with mine but her hair is too long and it won't stay in itΒ΄s Β΄lace while I'm drying it

nah I didn't cut her hair, but I've had other people comment that theirs doesn't always stay in place either so I'm not sure. I'm like 90% sure though mine stays in place because I used shampoo and conditioner (yeah I know it's weird), but it also made her hair all soft so idk.

Have you done one of this for Twilight, Rainbow, Pinkie, or Fluttershy?

It's a bit more complicated for Twilight and Rainbow Dash, since both of them MUST involve cutting their hair. There's another very detailed RBD hair-cutting guide somewhere around here, and with Twilight it mostly just involves cutting her bangs straight across. I'm a bit scared to actually cut my pony's hair without having an extra standing by, so I haven't tried them yet
With Pinkie Pie I turned mine into a Pinkimena with straight hair and creepy looks
With Fluttershy all you gotta do is put her in the sink, and turn the hot water on. After you let her sit in there for a few minutes take her out and let her dry. To make her hair more poofy put the hair between two fingers and just gently pull along. For some reason this makes it all poofy, or at least it did for me

I wasn't sure if the shampoo would be necessary or not since it seemed silly at the time. turns out though it actually helps quite a bit in getting the hair to "stick" when you wrap it around or just position it in general.
It also makes the hair not clump together.

I don't have tutorials since I don't think this "method" would really work for the others. For AJ, you just put her in the sing and blast water on her to make it straight. Rainbow Dash involves cutting so I haven't tried her yet, Fluttershy is pretty much the same as AJ, and for Pinkie I'm not relaly sure... I turned my Pinkie into a slightly evil Pinkimena and gave her straight hair

how do you fasten the hair to the body at the ends so that it doesn't move? :/

For me I found that the hair sticks to the body pretty well. It might be due to cleaning it those (just normal shampoo and stuff), but yeah I didn't use any rubber bands or anything to get it to stick.

It's highly recommended. It does make a difference and can make the whole thing easier, althought I've only tried once without it so I can't say for certain (but everyone else seems to agree)

I conditioned her hair, but not shampoo, and I did the whole process of your tutorial and lightly gelled it and now I'm waiting for it to dry. We'll have to wait and see x)
