It is not 'occupied' dear Brother! The correct phrase is and ought to be "Liberated".
Liberated from the tyranny of deranged general and his backers, the British elite, who has long sought to divide the island as per their motto "Divide and conquer" in order to establish more military bases and stockpile more nuclear weapons against the wishes of the native residents, Greeks and Turks.

Ask yourself, How could it be an 'occupation'? if the 'house you have been living in for generations is being invaded by a bunch of barbarians, murdering and massacring the rightful occupants  (the native population) then your parents decides to come back and kick their butt and teach them a lesson.

If you know the full story of Cyprus and the whole truth of what took place there in 1963 as well as 1973-74, you would come to understand that the real conflict is not and has never been between the native Greeks and the Turks who has been living side by side peacefully for generations (I was born and grew up in a village of Greeks and Turks living in harmony) but between the the native peoples of the island and the Military Industrial Complex of elite rulers of this world.

I know there had been unacceptable violence against Turk cypriots. But techincally the aggressor is still Turkey, (Invasion of a sovereign country-only Turkey has recognised the north "state" and that says something how the rest of the world views this And as we are talking about big powers and UK,  the really big player back then (USA) turned a blind eye, as it mostly did with Turkey-they were the most important asset on the cold war vs Soviet Union, air bases, missile sites, nuclear warheads etc. So Turkey was already playing a big part in the military industrial complex of elite rulers sadly.

But really,  I'm with you on the rest, peace man. Turks and Greeks share a lot and we should never again fall into the trap of the greedy elite who thrives with wars on poor people. Thanks a lot for the appreciation!
