It took 5-6 hours to finish this one.Normally for me, it will take days, if not weeks to finish an image, but due to the assignment I had to do this image in one day
This is an underwater city set in a fantasy world (so, no hardcore techno stuff

Exquisite piece. The jellyfish are a nice touch. Their gossamer pinkish purple tissue and alien like form get at the heart of this painting; partially fantasy and magical yet a tad bit sci-fi as well. Plus they help to indicate the setting as being underwater and not on the terrestrial surface of a hazy and dark distant planet.

I love the arrangement of lights on the buildings. Very eccentric, like they're scattered around the place instead of arranged neatly like on normal buildings. An unusual type of civilization must live here in these cities.
I also like the modern elements such as the little "tunnels" the connect each building, similar to what you see in airports and some other such buildings. The unusual shapes of the buildings is neat as well, like they were inspired by the local underwater landscape.

as this was a speedpaint i was really surprised it earned a daily deviation,
IMO this painting isnt even close in earning that honour.
I have seen artworks far superior to this one that got only a few comments, but hey what can you do about it...

It may have been speedily painted, but the coloring and brushwork come together perfectly. Nothing is sloppy or out of place.
Plus, it's imaginative, neat looking, and simple. It's not loaded down with details, like some artwork I've seen, but it still has a lot of detail that can be picked out. I guess what I'm saying is that there is no clashing detail, nothing that's really "competing for attention".
This is my current wallpaper right now, actually. The coloring is nice and soft, making it a perfect background, as my Windows icons with their sharp colors still contrast nicely with it, making them the foreground and this the background. (You've heard of the idea that foreground elements should use sharp colors and backgrounds should use soft colors, right? I mean, cartoons and video games do that all the time, making the elements easily separated, and creating a contrast that makes the action easy to follow, and easy on the eyes)
Anyway, it just comes together very well. The coloring is soft, the elements of the picture (the jellyfish, the buildings, the lights, the underwater flora) are all there without any of them clashing, and it just looks like a *background*, a picture that sets the mood without stealing the mood.
