Her sword does look like a feather.  I thought that's what it was at first.    The colors aren't that out of control.  Her scheme is all right.  The stripey earrings and hearts are maybe a bit much.

No, the bone aspect of it works.  I get that.  It's the shape of it overall that makes it look like a feather.  That swept tip especially.  If it were drawn the same way except straight instead of curved, it would look like a bone sword with no implication of feather.

I wanted it to be curved - as though it came from a dragon or something... The tip of it needs to be thinner or something I think?

The tip definitely needs to be a different shape.  And you need to change the texture at the tip too.  The way the lines and the shading are make it look like a feather.  It's too close together and uniform at the tip.
