Description

Update (2014/07/31): Fixed: some vertices on the back were weighted to the neck bone.

Update (2014/07/20): Fixed: faces used to clip through the jacket at the shoulder blades. They did not cause any trouble in the original form of the jacket, but turning on edge lines caused black spots to appear. Looks like the testers, and of course, I, overlooked this. It is now fixed, if you downloaded previously, you should get the update.

This is the first clothes part I made. I'm actually impressed by myself, it was a lot easier than I had thought, and the overall quality is a lot better than my expectations!

I created this because of some rules. I found a TDA model which had a very nice jacket, but its rules stated that no editing was allowed. I was fed up. It drove me up the wall, so I decided to be the white knight.

This is a copy of that part. Well, not really a copy, as stated below, but a very similar model. I am releasing this free of charge, as a free-to-edit part because somebody has to set an example - and considering the kind of person I am, the MMDC should be ashamed that it had to be me.

But what does this jacket have to offer?

100% handmade mesh

Handmade high-res textures

Rigged to breast bones, but there are no breast physics (must be present on the base)

Read the rules before you download: fav.me/d58nbu7

Please tell me your opinion in a comment!

Special thanks to people who helped me:

can follow your rules, i also got feed up with tda and his/her "don't do this, don't edit that", that's why i don't use any tda parts on my models, there are more understanding people around to depend on only one modeler.Β

so how did you made this one?, i was thinking metasequoia, but i wanna try to do my own stuff on blender.

3DS Max. I started from a cylinder, mostly followed the shape of the original, only later fitting it onto a base. My workflow has mostly changed to working from a cube, adding edge loops as needed, and applying a TurboSmooth on top of the modifier stack.

Thanks for bringing it to my attention, but since I am the author of this part (only the file format is proprietary), I have a strong counter claim against attackers.
However, if your claims are true, I'd rather not have their names here, so I'll hide your comment. Nothing personal, I'm just cautious.

The PMD format is obsolete and doesn't support many features that I use.Β You should upgrade to PMX.

Have someone translate the rules for you. If you can't, please don't use this.

:/
You do realise when they say "They couldn't understand well" they could have meant it in the lines of they didn't understand the way you explained it..
They could have asked just to clarify,
You didn't have to get snide with them over asking a simple yes no answer...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Wampa842 In reply to Yonells [2015-06-17 01:34:25 +0000 UTC]

The person in question is not a native English speaker and clearly lacks adequate lingual skills. People are expected to understand and respect the entire set of rules, not only the "can I edit" part.Β

Yonells In reply to Wampa842 [2015-06-17 01:37:36 +0000 UTC]

Still you should respect them, the are a human being..
You could have been nicer in your answer to them..
That upsets me,
You should respect your visitors and watchers more..

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Wampa842 In reply to Yonells [2015-06-17 08:27:56 +0000 UTC]

Here's the thing: I don't have to do this. I spend hours of my life working on something I release free of charge. I could sell this for cash or points. I could apply for a job in 3D graphics where I would get money to do something I'm doing for free. Or, I could stop releasing my things altogether.
But I take away time from studies, sleep and social life to share quality models with this ungrateful community, and in return, I only ask for people to understand and respect my rules.
I don't care where you are from, what language you speak, or which deity you worship. I don't care if you don't speak English as long as you get someone to translate the rules. Understand and respect the rules, these are the only two conditions. You don't have to write a 20-page essay, or give me half of your wealth, or sacrifice a newborn.
Disrespecting my rules is like flipping me off and taking the result of my hard work. People who do that deserve no respect, no matter what you or anyone says.
