Their birthdays line up to mine,so it became a habit to draw them a birthday present.However,over the last few years,I've been really busy and the gifts have been reduced to half-arsed sketches I hated myself for.I made a new year resolution to actually get something less half-baked this year,but time and school once again conspires against me.Sorry I couldn't finish it before the day,and I can't continue as I'm dangerously close to a project deadline.
Hope you like it all the same,though my skills have clearly slipped.

Bah, if they wear you out, you're refining them to much. If they're just short humorous comics the main quality is the expressions and dialogue. My comics are always way less detailed and more cartoony than any of my real art. I don't have the patience to refine them and make them detailed, lol.

nah man, on comics, id suggest you focus on the lines. perhaps som shading too! if you do the shading right, on something traditional and simple like a comic, the shading can serve as the highlights as well.

I can't blend too much when it comes to topic markers,they may mess up and the paper may get too saturated.(saturated paper won't blend anymore).That's why I rely on highlights!

ah yeah. wow i completely forgot you used markers on this. yeah, that really wouldnt work. ive fucked up pieces by over saturating them before. it was confusing to me cause i like never really used markers before that point so i was just like "wtf is happening?"

I get that a lot.People always tell me they can't tell it was markers.
First it gets darker and darker,forms an annoying patch,then it won't blend or spread anymore and you are stuck with that annoying blotch.Took me a while to figure out why it happens and refine the skill of getting what I want without too much blending.

same here. i just wen out an bough darker markers and used the mormal colors as the highlights. otherwise i would just end up with violently wrinkled paper that had a weird gloss to it. and fuck that.
although, none of my marker shit made it to the web, it did make it to a number of tee shirts!

I still do markers because it has better textures compared to my digital work and there's something more fulfilling by doing it on material paper for me.
