Well, in the story she's actually ranked as a major. But she spent a few years as a Staff Sergeant before entering West Point. Thanks to that, she believes in leading alongside her men in battle. Even though she's a major, people still refer to her as Sarge. Except Mei San who refers to her as Onee San.
