The colored version of a request by the older of my two big brothers and his lovely Chinese wife to design a simple and cute dragon that is to be crocheted onto I think a vest for my half-Chinese nephew who is due any day now. My Chinese mother-in-law is really good at crocheting.
Line-art is drawn completely freehand because the pen tool is the worst thing since Illustrator (or vise-versa, whichever came first).

What a lovely idea for a newborn <3 it will be such a beautiful keep sake. It's wonderful that a couple of your family members are involved in the making as well. Perfect simple colours and appropriate the the orb is blue hehe.
I actually began line-arting with the pen tool as I didn't have a tablet, now that I've had one for quite some time I find free-handing much easier/faster anyways.
