Referenceless. Which is probably the reason the pose feels slightly off... I think the front feet are reversed in terms of which one should be down.

The front feet look fine, the dew claw is supposed to be on the inside of the leg.

They are fine. Its the balance/weight distribution against the hind legs that makes them feel off.
Look closely and you'll notice that's the plantar ball/palm pad, not a dew claw.

This is so amazing! It looks like a photograph, if I didn't know that shalkats were fictional I would have thought this was a real, living, breathing animal. ^^ The fur detail and mountains are fantastic, and I just love the face.

Oh dear Lord! Having been away the last week, comming back to this was a real treat!
What a beautiful shally this guy is! I adore the pose - it shows the species' flexibility so well, and works wonders from a composition point of view too. Your mountainous terrain is as always the standard I am aiming to reach one day, and I particuarly love how the sloping snow draws the eye up to the shalkat himself.
With regards to his hind legs, I can see why you feel the pose is off, although I wouldn't have noticed had you not mentioned it. That said, if I had to offer critique there I think perhaps the left leg sticks out a little too much? At any rate, thank you so much, and this will have a proud spot in my all time faves
