Thank you! I wondered if I should keep her but I really try hard not to interfere with Nature that way.

If she likes you, let her spend her last days in your company. She might not survive very long outside since the cold days are arriving and she will most certainly freeze to death during the night.

Now I wish I had. She's still out there in the wild. This year it is unseasonably warm, but it is still too cold for spiders out there.

I hope mama spider got to die with dignity, then. The good news is that, somewhere out there among the bushes in a place out of sight, that mama spider left a sac filled with her younglings... In spring, they will come out to play, sailing away on the wind with their monofilament parachute silk lines...

That makes two of us, Ma'am. I have never witnessed it, only heard about it from fellow Rangers who have. I have seen pictures of the younglings, but not while they are flying in the wind.
