Check out Rocketcress (winter-cress), Barbarea vulgaris. Similar to but not actually a mustard.

Yep, its more common than the mustard's and is often mistaken for one. Bloom is more lemon yellow and has leaves that are rounded in contrast to mustards.

The bloom times overlap- Rocketcress blooms from spring into summer, mustards can bloom spring-late fall (all year).

You'll get used to them as you see more plants.
The Rocketcress tends to bloom in larger groups, common in farm fields, more of a bright yellow flower color, hairless stem and leaves. Blooms early spring in large numbers and is very noticeable along road sides.
Mustards (the more common ones) have a yellow-brown flower [some of the less common sp. have flowers like 'Cress], leaves are more angular, leaves and stems tend to be hairy. Common mustards like "Charlock" are more stocky, taller, a deeper color overall and tend to me more solitary.

That is something I did take note of. These flowers blanket the fields around here in late spring. It's really beautiful!

Is it cultivated or not? Word "mustard" can be used not only for species and genus, but also for many members of the same family, Brassicaceae.
If cultivated, it's most probably :
- rapeseed
- one of these

No it is not cultivated but it grows profusely in fields grown for hay or just gone fallow. I think that's the right word. When they let a field that is normally planted with a crop rest for a season...they really like to grow there.

I see. I'm not good with mustard family recognition (except for few plant that are quite characteristic)... for now I'd stay with mustard as family, until someone has better ideas. Some shots of leaves and whole plant can be useful for someone.

I'm so used to shooting for the 'art' and not the science. I'll habe to keep it in mind when I'm shooting from now on.

I understand. It is important only when you need to know what it is.

I see. Well, I was also considered a 'brain' at school too. I also forgot a lot.
