Description Today's airbrushed style pinup photo is a tribute to the Lucky Strikes Ads of the 1940s featuring Sarah and Samantha! Smoking was quite the rage during the 1940s, well before much of the unfortunate cancerous affects that come with smoking were reported and widely known. You'd be hard pressed to to find someone who didn't smoke daily (if not hourly) cigarettes. The cigarette companies were part of everything from billboards, numerous magazine and newspaper advertisements, to even the hosts of popular radio variety shows. Lucky Strike and Camel were two of the largest brands around in the 1940s who routinely went back and forth trying to tout themselves as the best flavor, quality, and burn time. Today, both companies still exist but Lucky Strikes has shrunk down to a very small distribution here in the United States while Camel continues to be one of the large companies.

Hilariously, when my Grandfather was diagnosed with bone marrow cancer, the doctors told him to start smoking.
