So do gnomes in your universe have the same powers as the ones in folklore? Like moving at 35 miles per hour, seven times the strength of man, making people depressed, turning into frogs, that sort of thing?

No I didn't invent that. It's in the book "Ozma of Oz" but also in the Movie "Return to Oz" I figured folk might know it cause of that.... at least here in the u.s.^^0 They are described as "Rock Faeries" I.E. they do all kinds of magic pertaining to stone, sand, dirt and the like.
