I'm putting this up just in case...... anywho!I grew up on the Oz books as so many of you know. And because of them, I spelled N-O-M-E instead of G-N-O-M-E as that is how L. Frank Baum spelled it in his books. I got reprimanded, of course, since very few of my generation seems to have read past the "Wizard of Oz". I'm not the greatest speller in most things, but at least this time I have a whole series of very good books to get behind.
Of course in Swingers "Nome" and "Gnome" are two different kinds of beings.

So do gnomes in your universe have the same powers as the ones in folklore? Like moving at 35 miles per hour, seven times the strength of man, making people depressed, turning into frogs, that sort of thing?

No I didn't invent that. It's in the book "Ozma of Oz" but also in the Movie "Return to Oz" I figured folk might know it cause of that.... at least here in the u.s.^^0 They are described as "Rock Faeries" I.E. they do all kinds of magic pertaining to stone, sand, dirt and the like.
