Description This is a mutilation of one of Jennifer Diane Reitz's brilliant CG paintings, based her webcomic "Pastel Defender Heliotrope." Fuschia's face looked a little "off," so I tried to fix it up a little.

I'm not too happy with my own results, and I fear that I've destroyed the artistic integrity of the original work by smudging and mutilating it so. Also, I have a history of totally missing the point of things involving artistic interpretation, so it's possible you intended Fushia's original expression to say something about her personality, or to parody "summer fun" sheinanegins by making her all leacherous-looking. If that was the point of this work, I guess I've destoryed that with my little tweaks. :/

Here's a comprehensive list of everything I did to the original to make it "look right," whatever that means:
-Shifted all the facial features up and to the right a bit, to satisfy some deep-seated sense of 3D anime space. (This introduced some other problems, though, which I had to fix one by one below.)
-Scrunched up Fuschia's closed eye a bit more towards the nose, and lowered it a tad. (So it looks like she's squinting hard on purpose, not like her eye is relaxed and swolen shut. (The lines I ended up drawing were inspired by the ^_^ happy-happy anime look, so I had to try extra-hard not to overdo it and spoil the realism!))
-Moved the pupil of the eye more towards the center of the white. (Fuschia is not an ancient egyptian mural, LOL. Just kidding. )
-Shifted the mouth a bit to the left. (It just looked better after that big shift up and to the right.)
-Reworked the mouth to make it look a little more like a smile. (I hope this was your intent. If not, then I've probabaly totally destroyed the mood intended by Fuschia's original megaman grimance.)
-After all this editing, the light and shadows were a mess, and many shard lines were now smudged. I have tried to reconstruct the light and shaodws as best I could, but I feel like I've fallen WAY short of Pastel's usual pretty shininess.

The original work can be viewed at [link] , and the webcomic is there, as well, at the root URL of that page.

I'm pretty sure it's okay to post this under fair use, since I cropped most of the image I didn't tweak, and also Jennifer's a very kind soul whom I'm pretty sure wouldn't take exception to such experimentation with her works. But if posting this ISN'T okay, please contact me, and I'll remove it ASAP.
