Description “Boromir!” You yelped, jumping forward to prevent him from falling off a ledge. You felt another pair of arms wrap around the two bodies as you both fell backwards. You looked up to see Legolas, wide eyed. Boromir quickly rolled off of you, offering a hand to help you up. You gladly took it.

Once back on your feet you glanced down into the dark abyss. There was a jagged walk way some way down to the other side. “Lead them on, Aragorn.” Gandalf hissed. “The bridge is near.” You heard the demon’s growl again, closer. “Do as I say! Swords are no more use here!” The wizard pushed Aragorn. “Let us go. Now.” You urged.

Everyone ran down another set of stairs towards the bridge. You made sure the Hobbits were safe in front of you before leaving yourself. As you walked down the bridged stairs, you noticed a part of it was torn apart. Legolas hopped over to the other side, extending his arms.

You heard the growls get louder as the rock door started to cave in. “Gandalf!” Legolas called. The old wizard nodded before jumping, getting caught by the Elf. The shot of an arrow was heard as it bounced off of the rock where Gandalf had stood. You watched as an Orc fell, Legolas’s arrow in its skull.

“Aragorn.” You hissed, extending your hands. He nodded and handed you his bow. You made quick reflexes to shoot at a hand full of Orcs. “Merry! Pippin!” Gandalf called. Boromir grabbed them and jumped over, causing a part of the bridge to collapse.

You quickly gave Aragorn his bow back as Legolas called your name, urging you next. “No, not till the Hobbits are over.” You insisted, helping Aragorn to throw Sam into Boromir’s arms. Legolas watched you in worry, but you just smiled sweetly. He was foolish to think you couldn’t take care of yourself.

Just as you and Aragorn turned to assist Gimli, he raised a hand in defense. “Nobody tosses a Dwarf!” He growled. “Excuse me, Lady (Y/n).” Gimli moved past you. You took a few steps back on the stairs to watch the Dwarf. He pounced and started to fall back before Legolas grabbed him by his ginger beard. “Not the beard!” He whined.

“The ledge!” You gasped. Where Gimli had rocked off started to fall, and Aragorn made the quick decision of throwing Frodo into your arms. You fell backwards, holding the Hobbit as you forced yourself away from the crumbling rocks. Aragorn pounced, barley making it as he scurried beside you. The sound of the demon behind you, roaring, caused your blood to run quicker.

You let go of Frodo as you stood up, glaring at Aragorn. “Steady.” He warned. The distance between you three and the rest of the Fellowship was a great, long gap of nothing. You cast Legolas and Gandalf a worried glance before swallowing a wad of fear. A louder roar from the creature caused a large rock to fall from the ceiling, crashing into the bridge far behind you.

It was just enough to unbalance the column you were on. The tall rock started to split somewhere down where it held you, tilting as it broke. Aragorn looked back at you as he went to grab your waist, dragging you beside him so you could hold Frodo. “Stay put, Master Baggins.” You hushed lowly to him.

The column continued to sway, and you knew it was to give waste soon. “Lean forward!” Aragorn commanded. You and Frodo did as he said. The large bridge started to slide forward, causing it to lean towards the part of the bridge where the others were. You heard your friends speak, but couldn’t make word out of it as you were practically frozen to the ground.

“Now!” Aragorn ordered, pushing you and Frodo forward as he jumped. You pounced; making sure Boromir caught the young Hobbit. Your feet barley missed the step as you slid past Legolas, panting. The column you were on collapsed, falling into the darkness.

You followed suit beside Boromir as everyone continued down the steps, towards what you only hoped to be as safety. There were many steps to run down as you finally made it to ground, fire arose from the corners, making it incredibly hot. “Over the bridge!” Gandalf demanded.

You urged the Hobbits in front of you, following in front of Gimli as you made way across the floor. “Hurry now, you’re almost there.” You whispered to Sam. Just as you had spoke, the creature came forth through the flames- your heart stopped completely.

It was large, and its horns curled out threateningly. It roared in Gandalf’s face as the wizard turned and fled towards the Fellowship. It started to stomp wildly after everyone as you made it to the bridge. One person at a time could flee across. You made sure the Hobbits and Gimli were in front before bolting across.

Once across the bridge, you paused, looking back as Legolas passed. Gandalf was standing on the bridge, confronting the beast. “You cannot pass!” He growled. Frodo shook his head, “Gandalf!” He called loudly. The wizard made no attempt to show he heard the young Hobbit.

The Demon stood fully, hands in fists as its skin ignited with flames. You turned to Legolas, panicked. “We must help!” You insisted. He shook his head, looking out at Gandalf. “There is nothing we can do, (Y/n).” He muttered. Your hands curled into fists in frustration.

“I am a servant of the Secret Fire, wielder of the flame of Anor.” Gandalf muttered, holding up his now glowing staff. “The dark fire will not avail you, flame of Udun!” The creature raised a flaming sword, bringing it down with great strength upon Gandalf. He blocked it, flames and sparks igniting from the impact.

You stood there, stunned and terrified. What was he doing!? You desperately wanted to help the old wizard. “Go back to the Shadow.” He growled. The demon placed a foot on the bridge, a flaming whip flying in the air. “You shall not pass!!” Gandalf yelled.

The creature exhaled harshly, stepping towards the wizard, causing the bridge to collapse from under his extreme weight. It shrieked in surprise, falling to its doom. You sighed in relief; but it was short spent, for as Gandalf turned around, the whip caught him by the foot. “Gandalf!” You called, bolting from your spot.

Legolas quickly caught you, holding you back as you thrashed around. “We must help!” You insisted. Boromir had quickly grabbed Frodo from doing the same as you as he called for the old wizard. Gandalf held onto the ledge with his hands, watching us with wide eyes. “Fly, you fools!”

Gandalf let go and fell, falling out of your line of sight as you struggled in Legolas’s grip. “No! Gandalf!” You and Frodo called. Boromir picked up the Hobbit, forcing him away from the scene. You felt yourself collapsing against Legolas, blue eyes wide as you stared into the dark.

“Aragorn!” Boromir called as arrows shot at them. Legolas helped you on your feet, gripping your side as he dragged you after Aragorn. You barred your teeth and shook your head, fleeing from his grip as you ran for safety. You finally made it outside, into fresh air, where you collapsed on your knees once the group settled down.

You punched your fists into the rocks, frustrated. You could have helped! You should have helped! But there was no more you could do. You close your eyes, settling back as you sighed deeply. Keep your composure, (Y/n). You thought, calming yourself down.

Great despair hung in the air as you sat, blocking out the cries that ran through the Fellowship. It had been such a long time since you felt such grief rid you of your happiness. Adrenaline pumped through your veins as you sat there, on looking your friends. This shouldn’t have happened…

“Legolas. Get them up.” Aragorn said. You looked up at your old friend, at first confused as to why he wanted to move on so quickly. But you quickly understand as you stood up, dusting off your tunic. Legolas looked hesitant as he walked over to the Hobbits. “Give them a moment, for pity’s sake!” Boromir lashed. “By nightfall these hills will be swarming with Orcs. We must reach the woods of Lothlorien.” You placed a hand on Boromir’s shoulder, nodding gently. “He is right.”

Aragorn looked off into the distance, “Come, Boromir. (Y/n). Legolas. Gimli, get them up.” He ordered once more. “On your feet, Sam.” Legolas whispered, helping the Hobbit up. You gingerly made your way to Pippin and Merry, assisting them with a small smile. “It will be alright.” You muttered, kissing their foreheads.

You looked off at Frodo, who was staring into the distance with a pained look. He must have taken Gandalf’s death the hardest. You frowned as everyone gathered around and followed Aragorn, taking up pace once more. Oh, how you hate running.

The Fellowship found their way to a stream, where spots of dying grass grew. You sighed, finding comfort in the life of nature. You pounced on top of a rock, crouching to dip your finger tips into the cool water. Aragorn had jumped into the water beside you, splashing you as he jogged through it. You raised an eyebrow, getting up to watch.

Aragorn gestured for everyone to continue at a steady pace, pouncing on top of rocks. He relied on you and Legolas to see and hear things they could not. Finally, after jogging for countless hours, you found a dip in the ground, supported by a rock. It was sort of like a cave. “This is where we will rest for the night.” Aragorn decided.

You grunted loudly as you collapsed on your back, leaning against the cool grass. “I will take first watch.” You offered. Aragorn glanced at Boromir before nodding. You watched as the two of them sat together, smoking from their pipes as the sun set. The Hobbits and Gimli had already sought refugee inside the small cave and were asleep.

Your blue eyes cast into the dark, picking out each individual blade of grass. You sighed heavily, laying your chin on your palm. Your mind wandered to Gandalf, flinching involuntarily. Why had he not just continued to run? Surely the beast wouldn’t have given chase this far….

Growling, you took a small rock and threw it in frustration. You watched it bash into the grass, roll, and then stop. “That was more boring than I would have assumed.” You mumbled to yourself. After another few minutes of silence, you stood up, walking away from the camp to sit in the grass overlooking the field.

You found beauty in how the moonlight cast upon each individual blade of grass, giving it its own light. The light illuminated the stream, causing each bubble of water to shine and stand out. A small smile crept across your face. Nature was quite the charmer.

“It is quite beautiful, is it not?” A voice caused you to glance to your side, the male hesitating to sit beside you. Legolas cast you a glance, “May I?” The smile stayed put as you nodded, looking back out towards the field. “I’m not sure if it is because I’m an Elf, or just me, but Mother Nature does nothing but grant me peace and solitude.”

Legolas nodded, understanding your words. “It is important to admire beauty, whether it is life or death.” You glared at him, eyes narrowed. “How can death be beautiful?” You hissed, toxin in your voice. “For when one thing dies, another grows stronger than the first.” He muttered.

You fell back, grunting as you lay sprawled in the grass. “I suppose you are right, Legolas…” You sighed, closing your eyes. After a few heart beats of silence your friend spoke up. “You appear to be tired, Lady (Y/n). I can surely take watch for now.”

One eye opened to look at the Elf. “No, no. It is quite fine.” You sighed, sitting back up, dragging your knees to your chest. “For I do not think I can sleep tonight without the warmth of Gandalf amongst us.” You whispered bitterly.

Legolas studied you for a few seconds. Something about you being so upset made him feel different. “Let me be your warmth for tonight.” He muttered. You caught his stare, looking into his eyes, searching for something. After awhile you nodded, standing up with your fellow Elf.

As you walked back to camp, you noticed everyone else was sound asleep. The grief must have put them out. Legolas sat down, looking up at you as you found your spot right between his legs- much to his surprise. You tucked your legs up to your body as you leaned against his chest.

You cast him a small smile as you felt your heart skip a beat, confusing you. What were your feelings towards Legolas? That was a question you could not answer. You just cuddled into him, breathing in his scent. You heard him sigh deeply before you slipped into a deep sleep.

“(Y/n).”  You grumbled deep in your throat, turning in your sleep. “(Y/n).” The voice sang out. You opened one eye, expecting to see a member of the Fellowship towering over you- but that is not what you saw. You jumped back, eyes wide and clear to what was around you.

You weren’t surrounded by open fields, or the warmth of your friends. No, you were surrounded by a foul smelling fog, trees sprouting and reaching for the clouds. Grayscale colors covered every inch of what would normally be a luscious green or tangy brown. “Where am I?”

A rustle in the bushes beside you startled you, drawing your attention towards it. You quickly stood up, lashing your blade out of its scabbard. “Show yourself!” You hissed. The noise ceased. You steadied your breath, ready for a guerilla attack.

Before you could react, something pounced at you, causing your body to fly backwards. Your eyes shot open, chest heaving as you looked around. “(Y/n)? Are you alright?” A calming and familiar voice asked. Your eyes met with Aragorn, and you sighed in relief. “Yes, I am alright. An unsettling dream was all it was.” You muttered, lying back into the grass.

Aragorn stood up, looking off into the distance once you shooed him away. The sun was just coming up. “You have five minutes before we set off once more.” You nodded to him, watching him walk over to Legolas. A small smile settled on your face as you watched the Elf.

Your eyes wandered to Boromir, who in which was sitting beside Pippin and Merry, laughing and conversing. Sam and Frodo were sitting in the grass, silent. Gimli was standing with his back to you, staring off from where you had arrived. You got up and stretched, groaning as you started to climb the small hill. You stood and narrowed your eyes, looking over the plains.

Nothing appeared to be dangerous as you twirled on your heels, jogging down the hill. Just as you landed Boromir tossed you a piece of bread. “Eat your fill before we leave.” He advised. You nodded in thanks and started to bite at the bread, not finding much of an appetite after your dream.

You sat back down on the grass, forcing down the bread as you eyed your comrades. You do not belong here, do you? The voice from your dreams seemed to echo through your skull. “Of course I do. I am just as skilled with a blade as anyone here.” You hissed.

Pippin was staring at you with round eyes, amused. “Who are ya talking to?” He called. Your eyes met his in surprise. “Oh! Uh… Myself?” You shrugged. After a few heartbeats of silence Aragorn called on. We were to run more.

Finally, you found yourself nearing what appeared to be trees in the distance; this only caused you to run faster. Legolas and Gimli caught sight of this, exchanging amused glances. You felt free as the wind whipped your black hair back, letting it dance as you ran.

You made your way into the woods, cautious. This was the woods of Lothlorien, after all. You halted, looking back as you gestured for the Hobbits to hurry. They found a way into your heart, so you felt protective over them. Pippin smiled up at you and you smiled back, continuing to follow Legolas and Aragorn.

The trees were thin, and the ground was covered with fallen leaves and moss. The air was crystal clear. You sighed, closing your eyes for a moment to breathe in the scent of nature. “You do indeed like the forest.” Boromir chuckled. You opened your eyes to glance at him, nodding sweetly.

Your hand lingered on the moss-covered trees, enjoying the view of forest instead of rock. “Stay close, young Hobbits!” Gimli hissed. “They say that a great sorceress lives in these woods. An Elf-witch…” You scoffed, glancing back at them. “…Of terrible power.”

“All who look upon her fall under her spell, and are never seen again.” Gimli continued. You sighed, closing your eyes. You have heard the same words from others; but was it true? You have yet to find out. You stopped, hearing the voices continue. It was of the same voice as before, but now you could decipher it was female.

Gimli’s voice reminded you to continue to move. “Well, here’s one Dwarf she won’t ensnare so easily. I have the eyes of a hawk and the ears of a fox.” You laughed lightly out of your nose, pausing. You heard footsteps in the distance. Before you could pull out your sword, were face to face with an arrow. “What a pleasant surprise.” You muttered, glaring at Gimli quickly.

“The Dwarf breathes so loud, we could have shot him in the dark.” One of the bowmen spoke. Aragorn bowed briefly. “Haldir of Lorien.” He whispered. You raised an eyebrow at your fellow Elf, studying him and his group. “We come here for help. We need your protection.” He said in Elvish.

Haldir glanced at you, furrowing his brows, confused as to why a female was traveling amongst them. Before he could question, Gimli growled. “Aragorn, these woods are perilous. We should go back.” You raised an eyebrow. “You only say such because of your hardship with Elves. If they can offer us hospitality, we should not miss the chance.”

You groaned lowly at the glare the Dwarf gave you. “You have entered the realm of the Lady of the Wood. You cannot go back.” Haldir said. You narrowed your eyes at him. “Come. She is waiting.”  He ordered, turning around. You glanced at Legolas in concern.

He nodded lowly to you, finger tips brushing against your hip as you walked ahead of him. Aragorn looked back at everyone, gesturing for them to follow the Elves. You marched silently behind them as the scenery changed. You were now at the heart of the Realm.

The trees that governed the area were huge; much bigger than yourself. Haldir took you and the Fellowship up stairs that entwined around the large trees. You continued your walk in complete silence, taking in the beauty that is this place.

Moonlight cast down upon the trees, the lights bright as they caught the moon’s luminescence. You finally made it to a small clearing, up above the tree branches. You stood beside Legolas, behind Sam. Aragorn stood in front of everyone as you watched two Elves who stood in marvelous and clean, glowing gowns.

One male and one female. You stayed blank as they cast their eyes upon you and the Fellowship, as if picking out weakness. “Nine there are here, yet ten there were set out from Rivendell. Tell me, where is Gandalf? For I much desire to speak with him.” The male asked.

You narrowed your eyes bitterly at the two Elves. “He has fallen into Shadow.” The woman spoke slowly. “The quest stands upon the edge of a knife. Stray but a little and it will fail to the ruin of all.” She whispered. You clenched your firsts. How dare she speak as if she were a part of this?

Galadriel’s eyes fell upon yours, and a small whisper floated in your head. You cannot speak of our quest as if it is destined to fail. You thought. Legolas and Aragorn noticed the held eye contact, but held their tongue. For what is the destiny of a female amongst men? Her voice made you feel sick.

Get out of my head! I will not be toyed with by the likes of you! Be ridden with you! You growled lowly. Galadriel’s eyes hesitantly left yours, to look amongst the others. “Yet hope remains while the Company is true. Do not let your hearts be troubled. Go now and rest for you are weary with sorrow and much toil.”

You glanced at your feet, turning around and storming down the stairs. Everyone else hesitantly followed. Haldir showed you where you were to sleep tonight, and disappeared into the night. You hastily sat in a far corner.  You heard Legolas speak, but paid no heed.

You continued to lazily listen to Aragorn and Boromir speaking in the distance, your eyes closing as you dozed off. Your feelings are just like a stream. They will never cease until they run dry to forever be forgotten. You could still hear the soft whispers of Galadriel’s voice in your head, but once you felt the warmth of familiar body next to you, you found yourself slipping into a much needed rest.

Hey (:

I am just reading your story and I think it is awesome! I really like the way you write!

But I found a little mistake in the story:

One male and one female. You stayed blank as they cast their eyes upon you and the Fellowship, as if picking out weakness. “Eight there are here, yet nine there were set out from Rivendell. Tell me, where is Gandalf? For I much desire to speak with him.” The male asked.

There it should be:
“Nine there are here, yet ten there were set out from Rivendell.

You forgot to count yourself :3

I hope you dont mind me correcting you I just wanted to say it, and now I will continue reading your story (:
