Description Gee...I hope I put this in the right section.

Anywho, this is the only picture I got to draw this summer. I was sooo busy but I really wanted to draw, so this is what came out. It is a picture of my online persona, Ophelia, and my online buddy Mad Hatter (MH). We've been busy doing silly RPGing and it has been sooo much fun. It has made me laugh so much when I really needed it. So...I guess this is a thank you pic or something.

It is a bit of a boring pic though--I mean they are just standing there. But I am still happy with it. Considering I haven't drawn for awhile, it didn't take me very long to do. It was also fun to draw too. I tweaked MH's costume design quite a bit--making it into what I imagined it to be. The only thing that bothers me is that Ophelia is supposed to be shorter than MH, but in this pic, it certaintly doesn't look it. Oh well.

"But wait!" you may ask, "isn't that thing with wings in your gallery your online persona?" Well, yes. My online persona Ophelia has a sort of multiple personality disorder now--she is both a gargoyle and a Washuu wanna-be. I have a feeling that I will be floating between the two very often so expect to see it! Washuu is just the coolest anime character ever!!

Oh and for those interested, the MH character (surprise, surprise!) belongs to Mad Hatter and inquiries about this awesome character can be made to: Mad_Hatter485@yahoo.com

Okay, now I'm done blabbing....

I love the picture of Ophelia! Washu is so grand! Yay for the Washu wanna-be! Who wouldn't want to be her?

Inking such delicate lines, especially in people's faces, can be very tough! I haven't quite grasped it either. It useually takes me a few attempts to get to a final. *hugs her lightbox* Part of it is in the pens. You need one that feels comfortable with your line style. For me I really like Copic liners. They are very smooth. What are you currently using?

Where do you get Copic liners? I don't think I've seen them before... Are they expensive?

When I actually do an ink, I use Staedtler pigment liner pens on Denril paper. I have such a huge fear of inking on my original pencil, so that's why Denril is so nice but it definitely has different texture to it.

I think I just need to experiment a bit with different papers and pens. And style too. My current "inking" method is a straight, thick and bold outline. Not much line variation there.

This is the set I have: [link]
Not super-cheap, but well worth it. Brush pens are fun to toy with too, and this set includes 2. I won't ink my original line work either, that's why I use a lightbox. Another of my better investments!

What do you trace onto? Do trace in pencil first and then ink over?

I trace it directly onto Bristol with ink, and if I mess up (and it happens!) I just grap a new piece of Bristol and start over.

You can see through Bristol paper? I always thought that it would be too thick to see through. I'll have to look into that method--Denril is really cool but the ink takes a while to dry and being a lefty, I smear it a few times before I get it right. How much did your lightbox cost? Did you buy from a local craft store or order it online?

Yes, you can see through Bristol. It's a bit dark, but still enough to ink by. As for the lightbox, I got mine for $35 at a craft store. It is a plastic one designed for tracing patterns, stencils and stuff like that. I personally like it better than those big steel boxes at an art store. They are way too expensive (average $90) and way too bulky. The craft store version was just perfect for me! It was bigger too ^_^

Aww. I likey! You officially need to post more art now... School be darned! lol... like I have room to talk. School just started for me, too. Anyway... I'd really like to see this pic colored... just a thought. I'm sure you'll have mad free time for it, right? Right? *cricket, cricket*

Thanks! Well, if all goes well (aka, I get off my lazy butt this weekend), I will have a CG pic up that I've been working on since January.

I want to color this pic. I debated whether to even post it b/c I wanted to color it eventually. But then I sat and thought really hard about it--in light of school, it probably won't see the light of day. At least for awhile. *sigh* So it will stay here as a sketch until I find time to do otherwise. I hate school.

Almost? So what did you used to draw? I am very curious now that you let that little fact slip.
