So, yeah, they loved to burn books! Everyone hears that it was simply material that went against their plans that was tossed in the fire. What does that consist of?
Pre-Nazi Germany (the Weimar Republic) was actually a very degenerate place. Prostitutes were everywhere, children were endangered, and it was even home to the world's first sex change clinic! It was only the first National Socialist party that decided to protest this debauchery, and one way they did so was... burning the books that promoted it.
If you're on the right, you're probably wishing for something like that to happen today after walking into Books A Million or the book section in Walmart. Not enough people seem to be willing to stand up for their morals and buddies today, unfortunately. But don't despair! As soon as Heidi wakes up (and finally quits snoring), she'll be making plans to go on a shopping spree to fill the town square's fire pit.
