Description
AHAHAHAHAHA. Haha.
Heh.
Good god I finished one.
This is the skeleton for the hands of a cosplay I'm doing. (Cheshire from Pandora hearts)
I was up until two in the morning doing this.
Of course, I'm normally awake at two, but I'm never actually using my brain.
Or my hands.
It's heavy as hell, but this way I can actually use my hands still. (Rather than just sculpt or sew big hands that won't be able to do anything but hang there) I'm actually pretty good at puppeteering these things.
I was able to pick up stuff like a plastic container full of water without spilling or dropping it, and I was able to pour the water out without any trouble.
I can also pick up tiny things if I concentrate on just using the thumb and forefinger. I'll probably post some pictures of me grabbing random objects with this. It's kind of neat looking.
This involved;
Rubber bands,
A heat gun,
A microwave,
Boiling water,
A very small gauged embroidery needle,
A fork,
My brother's exacto knife,
A certain type of cording that I forgot the name of,
Several burns on various parts of my hands,
A bruise on the joint that connects my thumb to my hand,
A pair of scissors,
A plastic lollipop stick,
And around a pound and a half of shapelock plastic.
I may use the left hand for making a tutorial on how this one was done, if anyone is interested.
If you were about to ask,
Yes. The first thing I did with this was flip myself off.
I mean, isn't it some kind of rule?
(Please excuse my gross hand, it's kind of... weird and veiny... Ew.)

This reminds me of the contraption they molded for my hand after I had surgery on an extensor tendon in my wrist to exercise my fingers and wrist. You may have a future in making therapy devices for physical therapy if you keep this up.

Oh, I'd be happy to explain~
You can actually kind of see in the picture, all of the knuckles have rubber bands embedded into the plastic (all of the weird yellow in the fingers). When I pull the strings, the rubber bands stretch, and the finger bends. When I release the string, the rubber bands snap the finger straight again.
That makes it so I can flick at things, too.
