Artison was outside the cafe the entire time. While D was talking to the impostor irkins, he was busy at one of the street stores.
"Do you know nothing that's in this solar system?" The store owner shouted annoyed, "How do you not know what a targeting lens is?"
"I'm not from here."Artison replied and looked over at some fuel tanks "What are in these?" then he reached out to try and see the label
Quickly the store owner grabbed his arm and shoved him away from them. "Don't open those! Engine fuel is toxic and highly explosive!"
"Heh, thanks for answering my question." Artison said "So are they stored this way because of how you bought them, or is there only so little?"
The conversations they had were interrupted though. As shots fired from the cafe across the street. Artison watched, but the store owner hid when he saw a large purple monster attacking irkins and their floating drone.
Artison's eyes drew down to his companion, on the ground and looked to be in pain. Artison glared at the irkins for a moment then perked up and turned to the store owner, "How much for one of those fuel tanks?" he asked, but the man wasn't at the counter. "Sir?" he sniffed the air for a moment then found him under the counter. "Sir, I'd like to buy a fuel tank."
"What's wrong with you?"he shouted "The irkins are in a fight with Resisty forces! How are you not scared?"
"I'd like to help with the fight." Artison said and looked over at the fight.
The drone at shot a quad of beams at Deimos. D had tried to block them with his sword, but three still struck Deimos to the ground. He was injured and being choked by one of the irkin's constricting whips.
"Make that about three canasters," Artison said and leaned back over the counter, "How much?"
"You're crazy!" The store owner said, and then he heard laser fire again. "Fine just take them!"
"Just take them?" Artison said "Sounds like I'm stealing from you..."
"Are you serious?" The owner shouted "Fine! Just pay what you think fits, take the fuel and go!"
"Gladly!" Artison said, and slapped ruby onto counter. "Now to give this a test here." He dragged three of the tanks away from the shop and toward the middle of the, now empty, streets. He lifted one up and pointed the lower end at the drone closed in on Deimos, and he held the top end away with his other hand. His hand started to heat up, and then the metal at the top. The fuel instantly ignited and flew out of his hand with a blazing rage. It soared into the cafe, going between Deimos and the drone, and right at the farthest irkin's head. It struck like a missile and blew up just as violently. D and Deimos looked amazed for the most part, but the drone seeked out the being who fired that thing.
"Hey, it worked!" Artison shouted delighted, "I missed my target, but it worked!"
The last of the irkin squad though crawled his way out from under the table. "Let's get out of here!" he shouted to the drone and tried to run out of the street.
Artison lifted up another fuel tank. "Not so fast!" he grabbed the back end of the tank.
The drone, however, zoomed out and fired a laser at the tank Artison held. It blew up right in his hands, and then the other tank did as the irkin and the drone fled into the city.
Artison was knocked to the ground, surely, but got up with only a few marks on his pant leg. His prosthetic just had a scratch too. "Deimos! D!" he ran to them and helped up the fox. "Where are you hurt?"
"Just my shoulder." D said "But about you? You were exploded!"
"I'm fire resistant." Artison said with a smile "The perk of being a pyreheart wolf"
"I'm fine. Thank you." Deimos said and took the whips off his neck "Wait..." He looked t the whips, but they were now tentacles, shriveled, burned tentacles. "What?" He got up and walked over to where the explosive residue the first tank exploded.
