Photos looking off away from the camera can turn out nice but something close like this, with a dead stare at the camera; I really like how it turned out. The clarity in his hair, the capture of detail even in the drops of water, the DOF of the pool in the background; nicely composed.

Indeed. I often like black and white but if I shoot black and white initially, I regret not having a color version too. If a shot turns out with major hotspot issues, it's often a great candidate for the conversion - then hotspots are a distraction; they add to the fact that it's black and white.

yeah, i have a couple photos here that i would prefer in black and white but unfortunatly the editing program i have wont put the editied version on da, only the original so if i lightened the picture or anything originally it will show up here exactly how it was taken. it can be frustrating

Well I dont do photography so I cant give you any....professional critique. I like the light direction in this. Yellow (or orange) also is complimentary with blue so you got some color theory going on. When you post in thumbshare though. Put thumb nails in though coz a lot of people on this site are lazy as hell and wont take 1 min to look at someones art.
