Sorry about the delay in replying to your comment! Iv been extremely busy.Its actually quite simple to do but you wont like the response...
I took lots of photos of various fires/flames against a plain black backdrop and then in photoshop added them as different layers set to screen over the hand and used the liquefy tool to make them follow the contours of the arm. Lots of trial and error to get it looking liek it is now, still not 100% but was the best i could do in the time.

ah looks nice, the lightning can be better but the concept is cool.

the lighting was better but i shot it in our new uni photo studio and the spot blew and couldnt find the spare so had to use a desk lamp instead :s
