If I could afford a skull I'd buy one!

I'd be happy to consider a trade.

Thanks!

I would if I could!

Cannot even afford a trade of bronze. I only trade knowledge with artist sometimes. People who want to learn mold making, etc.

I did some in school, Plaster/sand investment, nothing like what's going on nowdays, casting aluminum, back then bronze was $8.00/pound. I can only imagine the expense involved now. The rosewood blocks take a while to find, but the cost is only about $120.00 or so.

HAHA! Yea it has changed. I do silicone rubber that is $150.00 a gallon and up, with special concrete mother mold for support. The octopus casting is around $1,500.00 alone.

What do you sell a skull for?

My wax carving went straight into the investment...no mold for repro.

They are well worth it my friend. Super cool!

Hey, there is a guy online that loves skulls, and bones, that makes amazing switchblade knives and such. Check him out if you like. He does trades or maybe he would buy a skull from you.

Web: [link]

I don't really know him at all. But he does knives I love.

Those are some amazing knives...Thanks for the tip.

bronze4u In reply to WaterwalkerWoodworks [2011-07-19 23:06:03 +0000 UTC]

NP!

I wish I could afford his knives as well! He wanted me to sculpt a skull with scorpions once, in a trade for a twelve hundred dollar switchblade. Then he flaked and acted like it wasnt enough! Keep that in mind, should you trade... But damn fine knives for sure!

I'll keep that in mind. I get that sometimes, not many realise how much chisels cost, or how long it takes to learn your craft. Not to mention the sacrifices made along the way. My studio/shop is a lonely place, too dangerous for the kids, too dusty for the wife. lol I spend way too much time in there.

Fantastic work! I love how you added the various foramen for nerve and blood vessel passage, little details like that definitely set your work apart.
