Sometimes I don't know why I do this to myself...10.6" x 13.8", pen & ink. Inverted in Photoshop because I thought it looked better.
I also might make more detail shots of this later. Or maybe make a better scan and post it in the original colours.

O.O At first it seems as if there are many trees, but when you scroll down, youΒ΄re really kind of stunned that the root is just one tree.

I kind of feel it would have been more impressive had you actually done the original like this (filling in the blanks between the branches while leaving the branches white and so on) - but it still looks awesome like this! (It would be nice to see the original too).

Yeah, I've actually been thinking of trying something like this on a scratchboard - it would be a similar effect.. white on black rather than black on white.
As for working in negative space rather than positive... I don't know with a piece like this, haha. I don't think I'll have the patience to go through with it. It would probably not allow a lot of freehand drawing. But its something to consider.

Haha, actually not at all. It was done for a school assignment and to see if I could actually do it.
It was pretty much a rush job by the end... so I'm thinking of trying it again... one day.
