When he was 5, his parents divorced due to unknown reasons. Reide chose to live with his father, but after his spiral into alcoholism and violence, ran away from home in search of his mother. She'd remarried a wealthy businessman who often went abroad. All in all, she was a decent mother to him, and it was she who discovered his brilliant, if lazy streak. When he was 11, she was diagnosed with lung cancer and consequently died.
He first meets Minho and Jin when he is 8.
