Description The Autumn equinox is the point at which the sun crosses the equator. This year it was September 23rd.

For us in the north, it means that the days will get progressively colder. The sun actually began its southward return on June 21st which is the spring solstice.

Contrary to popular belief, the trees turn colour not because of frost, but rather because of the fading hours of sunlight. As the length of the day recedes, the tree prepares itself for winter by gradually slowing the flow of sap to the leaves. As the process continues, the leaves begin to turn colour and drop in preparation for winter regeneration.

This is an excellent photo. I love the old buildings and especially the unique colors in this photo. Is this a film or digital photo? how did you get those great colors?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

WayneBenedet In reply to proverbialcheese [2007-10-19 21:14:07 +0000 UTC]

thanks for your visit and support.

This shot is film based and scanned at 3200 dpi. The processing was done in PhotoShop Elements.

proverbialcheese In reply to WayneBenedet [2007-10-19 21:26:04 +0000 UTC]

3200 you say? is that with a flatbed scanner? I usually only scan at 300 dpi

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

WayneBenedet In reply to proverbialcheese [2007-10-19 23:36:36 +0000 UTC]

yes. I have a scanner that does up to 6x7 negatives. It was made by canon. Not sure if it is still available or obsolete, but it has worked very well for me. It is a flat bed.

proverbialcheese In reply to WayneBenedet [2007-10-20 00:06:54 +0000 UTC]

I see. I always scan the prints and have read that that is the worst way to do it. I just got a flatbed with a tray for negs tho. I have yet to try it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

WayneBenedet In reply to proverbialcheese [2007-10-20 18:43:40 +0000 UTC]

yes, there is a significant difference between scanning prints and scanning negatives. At this point I have gone totally digital and I find that better again.

proverbialcheese In reply to WayneBenedet [2007-10-22 17:47:28 +0000 UTC]

Im gonna have to try now that I have a scanner that scans negs.
