Eggmatons can be seen as the "pupal stage" of a Yokko's lifestyle, largely inactive and incubating until it grows into a new form. Depending on how long an Eggmaton stays in its shell, it will grow into a different form, but of course, outside factors can influence its growth as well. Their shell is surprisingly durable, and prevents them from being hunted by much other than their main predator, Anteaster. While mostly immobile, they can fight back by letting yolky arms emerge from the shell.
