Those who have seen this have called it “fashionable Sam Brown”, a “take on a fanny pack that's actually wearable”, and “part of the Steampunk ground troops uniform”. However you term it, this is a different and utilitarian piece.
Made from durable leather, two one inch straps criss cross the body, attaching to unique solid brass hardware. Both belt and shoulder strap are full adjustable with the solid brass oval buckles.
At the back is a bag in matching leather which has been completely handsewn with durable waxed thread. It's designed with a bottom heavy, double curved bottom attaches to the belt with two solid brass rings and snap. It can be removed and attached to a strap to be worn as a purse instead. The flap closes securely with a solid brass turn clasp. The bag measures 6 inches across, 4 1/2 inches tall, and 1 ½ inches deep. Big enough for necessaries without being cumbersome.
In the front, a three way ring attaches the belt to the shoulder strap with secure brass rivets. In the back, however, it attaches with a large D ring. This allows the strap to move back and forth to adjust to your shoulder, so the piece remains comfortable while bending, sitting, or stretching.
The leather is an oil tanned hide, which is prized for it's durability and strength. Over time, the leather will beautifully age, distressing, darkening in some places while getting lighter in others without cracking or becoming brittle. Any wear will make this piece look like it's an antique find.
The mannequin in the photo measures at a 33 inch waist, but the piece can be sized between a 32 and 35 inch waist.
