Description The second from my 'Skeleton Dreams' shipwreck shoot in March 2007. It was shot about 20 minutes after the first one but still before the sun was able to rise over the cloud horizon.

I've hiked out to this wreck 4 times now since discovering it along a remote stretch of Lake Superior shoreline 60 km from Thunder Bay. This particular shoot at sunrise was interesting because the snowdrifts in the area that day were deep and pronounced ... often hard to navigate without snowshoes and in the pre-dawn darkness.

The different perspective and horizon composition of this photo after it was rotated to the vertical ' portrait ' format has grown on me and I'd be curious to know what you think of it.

I like this pic, but it just feels...wrong...because of the tilted horizon. It makes me dizzy to look at it x.x;
But when I tilt my head it's fine XD I like the snowdrifts =3

Wonderful gallery, by the way

I like the angle, it emphasizes the near-abstract nature of the weather-eaten ship construction...

That is a gorgeous sunrise - and I love the boat, too. Something about the harshness of the nails in contrast to the sunrise...

I feel like I'm leaning when I look at it. Nice effect...and I think that it's a good shot. Good use of open space to allow focus on the "skeleton".

that shipwreck is such a contrast to the calmness of the snow and the sky, being so rough and harsh....
Fabulous photo! (bu if I may say my opinion I would like it more in horizontal orientation. Somehow it's not right for me )

Funny you specifically query the feel of the horizon.
This is a very powerful image - maybe cropped a bit too tight for my personal liking.

I have an immense problem with skew horizons, including obviously tilted ones. Yet... that being said ... here it somehow creates even more tension into the shot and this is just so very striking that the horizon kind of adds to the appeal.

So... sorry for burbling on and on here I LOVE this.

Woah... disorienting...

I actually like this angle. I think I liked the other one better, but both are pretty cool. The snow drifts are interesting. They kind of add to the whole disoriented feel. The land in the background is a little distracting, but other wise, I love it. Also, I like all the little nails in the wreck ^_^ Go figure .
