Description Cold darkness gives way to a fleeting change of brilliant color over the sleeping frozen scape.

This world awakens quietly with only the distant cracking of ice to break the silence.

The colors are striking! And love the contrast between the flowing clouds/sky, and the shattered ice. Lastly, the motion in this picture is beautiful. The way the sky flows from left to right, and the ice flows back to the left. Very nice.

they get broken off by the swell of the lake during a milder day ... float around ... and then get pushed by the waves up on the ice
