Description RIP Ming (aka Mink, since his fur looked like a mink coat). Ming was originally found several years ago outside at my sister-in-law's house, ~Fubelle , skinny, covered in fleas and starving. She lives out in the country so cats are attracted to her house since she has other kitties and food is always in the garage. She could hear his painful meows and went outside to try and lure him him. She was able to catch him, clean him up and bring him inside for feeding.

Having always wanted a Siamese, we went to pick him up and brought him home. We got him to the vet where he was tested for Feline Leukemia and other things, as well as getting his shots and having him fixed.

Ming thrived for a few years but got sick again. After being at the ER for animals (open at night), he was transferred to the personal vet and was in and out a few times before getting better. He seemed to be back to his irascible self when he got sick again around Thanksgiving in the US. He was at the Vet's for a few days and got fluids, medication and had tests done. The vet thought Ming had Intestinal Lymphoma but didn't test for cancer, instead testing for many other things. When Ming was picked up all we knew was that he had had an infection. After another week of steroids and antibiotics he slowly got better and started to ask for his favorite canned food (he would go over to where it was kept and look at it then look at me, then look at the food, then look at me, so it was obvious what he was asking for), playing and wanting laps and beds.

Then he took a turn for the worse this past Monday early AM and within two days he had slowly passed away. Steve put him in the kitty bed, but he got out and slowly made his way, inches at a time over the nigh, to under the chair in the dining where he loved to lay. For some odd reason he loved being under chairs or the couch.

Storm got up on the chair where Ming lay and didn't move until after he passed. Simba was just a foot away. Steve and I watched him as he took his last breath, so Ming was never alone.

He was around seven or eight-years old, the vet saying he could have been two or three when he was found. Am thankful he was able to have some years of a normal life before he "went back home".

Bless his heart. He was so sick. Was very angry with the vet for not being honest with us upfront when Ming was in the pet hospital for so many days. At least he passed away surrounded by those who loved him

It took Storm and Simba quite some time to realize Ming was not coming back. Both of them have been opening up a bit more but not like Ming was. Storm wants a lap or a comfy bed but usually only for minutes not hours like Ming. Storm is far more interested in pulling all dad's ties down off the tie rack than snuggling for a long nap!

A beautiful Siamese point chocolate, your cat reminded me of mine,my cat Pink,he was the same as yours and his passing was similar as well, mine lived about 5 years and he could have lived a bit more if he hadn't gotten so sick,my cat passed away long ago -more than 15 years now, though I never forget him, even if years have gone-

You were a great mom!,and your beautiful Ming, thanks you wherever he is now and he is jumping from cloud to cloud and playing with the stars.

So sorry for your loss!! He was a beautiful cat! And he has found his peace now, and probably lots of fun in kitty heaven! Just give Storm and Simba some extra TLC, they're missing him, too.
RIP Ming!

Thank you.

Simba has been acting up in the last few days. For the first week he was quiet and reflective and now he is using the living room carpet as a litter box. Sigh. Will get him to the vet and see if there is something the doctor can do for Simba. Simba and Storm even got into a fight earlier and they are usually such buddies

poserfan In reply to WDWParksGal [2013-01-18 10:44:27 +0000 UTC]

Simba is grieving. Cats don't like change in their life; he misses his buddy. Don't think the vet can do much, s/he'll tell you most probably to buy some cat pheromones to put in the eletric socket so they feel better. Also to buy some cat toilet spray/smell absorber spray for the carpet.

Buy some valerian spray to spray on his favorite places, give him a valerian pillow (have to make that yourself probably) or use a catnip fill toy and fill it with valerian. Make another one with catnip.

But most of all, they need TLC from you to get over it. Nikky was shocked too when he lost his brother, especially so suddenly. He was not happy when Candy moved in so he had someone to play with. He tolerated her, but he didn't love her like he loved Charly. Candy was a lil terror cookie when she was small and chased Nikky thru the house, so he needed to deal with her. But Nikky also needed a lot of love (already did from the moment we took him in as he was a stray resp. some abandoned him) and since he got lots of it he coped well.

Give both of them some kisses from me.

I'm sorry for your loss! Currently my cat is in a bad condition. We let him go outside from time to time (everyday when he starts meowing too much) because he likes it there, with other cats. But someone has hit him really bad, and now he can't sit anymore and it hurts him a lot. Mom and dad just took him to the vet, and I'm waiting for them to return home and see what the vet said. I hate cruelty against animals. And I know this has nothing to do with the reason your cat died tho. I'm sorry. But hey look at the bright side, he had some eight years of some good cat-life. And now I'm crying. :c

I am so very sorry. How awful that your precious kitty was hurt by such a cruel action. He is in my prayers

I have a kitty that is over 15-years old and he is breathing heavily and has a warm nose, so he goes to the vet this week. I realize 15 is really old for a kitty but still need him checked out. A young kitty we have, Storm is about three-years old and he snuck out a couple weeks ago and got bit by another animal. He had to be taken to the vet to get antibiotics and a pain shot. We had an extra antibiotic on hand and a pain reliever we could give him until getting him to the vet. Kitties just want adventure without realizing how dangerous outside can be!

My cat's crazy. He likes to annoy the dogs and stuff. But he never gets caught. Apparently his tail is damaged. Which caused him fever and a looot of pain. He is better, but we have to take him daily to get some antibiotics and pain shot too. And he still wants to go outside tho its though for him to climb the bed. Ugh, cats.

Thank you so much. The other two kitties have been awfully quiet these past few days. It is eerie to have the house quiet without playing, chasing and meowing.

Ming's eyes were so beautiful and he would like at people so intensely. He loved people and could jump from the floor to a shoulder. It was quite a trick.

It is so difficult to lose a pet since a pet is like family. Storm and Simba knew something was wrong with Ming but am not sure if they could quite figure it out or not. Bless their hearts, their never took their eyes off of him, not until Steve put Ming into the padded box and took him out the side door into the garage

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SilEnigmaArts In reply to WDWParksGal [2013-01-11 10:21:01 +0000 UTC]

Thats exactly IT ...they ARE family. They bring love and joy, their personalities, their traits each one unique which have a place in each of our hearts that will never be forgotten and leaves a great hurt hard to comfort when they leave us. All you can do now is to take comfort that Ming is not suffering and that he will forever have your love to keep him comfort wherever he travels
