Jane Emerson Jones Leath: November 13, 1951 ~ June 19, 2012Jane was born on November 13th and I was born on November 29th. My mom took me to see my new friend and took our picture. The top picture is a digital "clean-up" and the bottom is the original scanned in (if anyone knows of a tutorial on fixing vintage photos I would appreciate the link).
In just over a decade, Jane had breast cancer twice and bone cancer. She fought valiantly just retiring from her teaching job of 37-Years in Johnstown, Ohio where we both attended school ourselves. She was a kindergarten teacher and much loved by the community. Jane had her first grandchild this year, born to her son, Kris. A little girl.
My Condolences to her husband, Wes, and her two married children, Katie and Kristopher
Jane is my oldest friend. I have many memories of our times together. May she rest in peace

When my husband scanned the picture in it saved as a Tiff file. Whatever that is. I couldn't load it into Sta.sh, so I opened it and saved it as a PNG file. The Picture ~ bear in mind it is a black and white snapshot from over sixty-years ago, so it isn't very large. Whatever you can do to improve the image is greatly appreciated

I just had surgery a week ago & cant quite sit at my chair for long periods yet. Still in a bit of pain. So I may have to do it a little at a time

hope the surgery went well. Take your time and thank you for the offer. It is such a weird feeling Jane is gone. I have emails from her where she was chatty and happy, saying she accepted she would need treatment the rest of her life, never letting on she was as bad as she was. If I had just half of her positive attitude I would be doing good!

It's lovely to see such an old photo. Such a long time to know someone... You'll never forget her. At least yours and her family knows they have someone to talk to as you two were so close

I went to the Memorial on Sunday and was able to talk to her family and old friends of our families. Growing up in a small town means knowing most of the people around town. Things have changed a lot and the town isn't as small as it once was, but it was a lovely day to talk and reminiscence and appreciate each other

She was amazing and taught for 37- years. Just found out another classmate passed away Monday. It is such a shock. There were only seventy people in my class, so we all knew each other. As my friend said when we were young, we know everyone at school along with their parents, their cousins....

Way too young. I found out before leaving to drive to Newark to stay with Tina, that another classmate had passed away the day before Jane did. He would have been sixty this summer. He lived in Colorado, and I had heard from him via email a few weeks ago and he didn't say a word about not feeling well. I do not know how he died

Unfortunately sometimes the first indication of heart disease is sudden death. It may have been a blessing. Too many people seem to live in a lot of misery and pain before they go. I also have just found out a couple of friends have passed, one last year and another a few years ago.

Earlier today I found out another classmate that was a good friend passed away Monday. When it rains it pours. I will be out-of-town this weekend to go to the service and see old friends.
