I'm hungry now- that looks really tasty!
First off, I have to say I am really liking the background. Normally, I prefer more of a plain (either black or white) one, but this color really gives off a warm feeling and enhances the color of the cupcake, as well as the homemade feel. I also quite like the lighting: not too stark, just a little reflection on the cupcake. The selective focus works perfectly for this shot too. Not too much is blurry, yet the eye is certainly drawn to the cupcake.
I believe maybe there are a couple areas that could be improved, however, that could make it even better (please note that these are just personal preferences, so not everyone is going to agree). First off, I'm not really sure if I understand what or why the liquid at the bottom of the plate is there. I don't think it gives much to the picture; it actually is a little distracting. Also, maybe if there had been a little frosting on the cupcake, it would have given it even more of an interest factor. It might have also given a little more color to the whole image.
Overall, though, great shot!

Very sweet, This one should be on commercial photography about the cupcake advertising / cupcake industry or marketing. I think youre good with food photography. Almost food styling.
