Description A collage of a faux taxidermy I did long ago. This is a personal mount of mine of my fantasy species, which I won't tell much about on here, but they're in the mustelid family and about the size of a moose.

This is the juvenile version of my species. About the size of a black bear right now, and his eyes are still blue from infantcy. As an adult his eyes will turn red and he will develope his facial "ferret" mask more boldly.

I'd say he looks quite the handsome weasel in the autumn scenery lol.

His nose has a little discolouring there because it's a scar (intentional.)

Materials : Faux "wolverine" fur, felt, glass eyes, fishing line whiskers, real wolf teeth, and a black bear wall pedastal form (altered).

Moose!? They're moose size!? I, uh... well.
"This is a personal mount of mine of my fantasy species, which I won't tell much about on here" Oh, if only you had known then.
Also, were you thinking of making more faux taxidermy Dirgehowlers?

Yeah I am planning to, I started making form a long time ago but have not finished it. Taxidermy is a really pricey hobby so I have not gotten all the needed materials for another mount lol.

Pricy indeed, if it wasn't for the costs I might actually be doing it occasionally on the side.
If only I had the tools and proper licence yesterday, I found a pristine Belted Kingfisher lying on his back like a museum specimen just down the road from me in one of the busiest areas in town. Seriously, there wasn't a mark on him and the only things coming for him were some sidewalk ants. Unfortunately I had to dig him a shallow grave.

Oh my God, thank you so much for the watch!!! I'm glad you enjoy my work.

Oh wow, that must have been an awesome find! The only birds legal for me are invasive ones, like House Sparrows and Euro Starlings. We can have game bird species and domestic ones too though, like quail and turkey.

I could have sworn I was watching you, but I guess being gone so long from here I lost track of who I was and was not watching. So I decided to fix that immediately lol. I still come on here from time to time, to check artists and quietly submit something lol.

Interestingly different. I love the fact that it's not just taxidermy, it's fantasy. It brings to life what some people can only imagine.

Just amazing..

Out of curiosity, where did you get the eyes?

I got the eyes from a free lance glass artist online who sadly shut down. But, you can get very similar eyes on this site: [link]

Very interesting creature design, I really do like the work you did with this one. I know there aren't many people out there that attempted faux taxidermy.

I have to ask, how did you do the short hair on the muzzle and face? It looks like it was the flocking material they use in boxes and such.

I useed felt for the facial part, but I may switch to short faux fur for my next fake mount.

I think the felt wasn't bad at all. I don't think they sell felt/flocking that is like short hair sadly otherwise I would point you to the right direction.

Can't wait to see if you do another one of these. c:

I'm planning out my next faux animal now, and I have a squirrel pelt I will do a rigid mount with soon.
