When they came out for the very first time the cars were pretty expensive,considering the rival was the Mustang.

But if you search good and well you could buy a cheap one for a restauration project (if you have the time and money to invest in it)

Overall the classic will never die.

I know where one is now about 15 miles from me, less the front clip...Most I have seen tho sell for a premium even in poor shape. The value when finished is astronomical if done right. Lotsa old muscle in my area. Your right, muscle cars will never die! I'm retired, time is no problem, money...whats that?

In UK rarely i see a classic muscle.But i always dreamed to buy a 5 bucks Mustang and restore it myself,and since the engine bay is quite large i can fit a smaller engine (rather then the original carburator v8) so you can get an awsome classic with a small fuel consumption.

I was working as a mechanic at a local Rod and Custom shop, mostly we installed the new engines and computers to get better reliability. Many people had money but no mechanical experience and wanted something they could drive without the headaches. Truly Hi Perf engines are finicky, ambient temp, fuel quality and plain and simple if you run it hard long enough your gonna break something...Lol I miss the big blocks! Massive Torque and HP! Your plan sounds like a great idea tho, reliability is priceless! 20 years ago it was easy to find prospects here. But since the muscle car craze went global, many have went overseas. The only reason they are here locally is because of "The Muscle Car Ranch" here in Oklahoma and we get the "SW Streetrod Nationals" here in Okc. If you get one I'd love to see the pics! I restored (We restored...Lol) a 66 2+2 Mustang, wish I had the pics...It was Mandarin orange with semi gloss black rally stripes and rocket racing mags. I loved seeing the owners face when they saw the finished product, It was worth more than money

I know what you mean,in Europe its kinda hard to get a muscle car,even the GT500 wich was 30k when it first came out,to order one for europe tax+shipping+etc would have reached over 56k so it wasn`t a good deal,plus for some reason i dont know,when you order a US car,you have to take it to a specialized car shop to strip the interior and remake the whole electrical wires wich takes about 1 week (to wait) and about 800-1200 pounds.So add that up to the total cost.Plus the MOT for muscle cars are diff.specially for imported cars old ones.(no airbag,abs,etc)

For now i`m using my 540i beemer,but hope one day i`ll get to "restore" my own muscle-car.

Good luck on your GT500! Usually too late, but occasionally I've heard of very rare cars selling very cheap because people don't know what they have and being hard up for money. I had a guy offer me at a very bad money time for me a 57 Belair convertible needing restored but ran, for $200...Opportunity knocks once!...Lol That car is worth a mint finished! I also was cheated out of a 48 Buick Sedanette 56-S waiting to be restored. Creeps are everywhere...it was my boss from the streetrod shop...Karma is a bit**....Lol Finished value at the time was 50k done right, 15 years ago.

lol,i dont plan on buying a gt500 (i`d wish though)
in US there lots of cheap cars (muscle,old ones,good brands)

Europe doesn`t have lots of classic cars to be restored.Only (mg,fiat,alfa spyder,jag e-type,etc the classics,no muscle)

Parts,some,have easy to get,not too expensive but some ARE pricey.
So,getting a car to restore myself its gonna be a garage "job" when i retire

And yes,if you know where to look,you can be the right person at the right time and find yourself a good deal.
