So that's what they look like close up. In one of the rentals I lived in (which was the only slum-type or semi-slum that I ever had to live in), it had a lot of those furry flies. I looked them up online, and supposedly they like sewage and damp places. The owner of that rental had some sewage problem, probably an old septic tank he didn't treat or pump out after the old building was put on city plumbing.
The flies were cute though, but rather slow and easy to swat with or without a swatter.
