EDIT: I improved the contrast for this picture, I think it was missing in the first version.
I wanted a lot of light... A LOT! 
And I missed drawing Aruyda, it was a good occasion to try some new techniques on the picture.
The reason why she's crying here is a mix of different things I guess. But most importantly, the light shard stuck to her body gathers the best and the worse in her life. Thanks to it, she has inherited very particular abilities and has a "bound" with this shard that other people will probably never understand. But in the other hand, since she was rescued from her own father experiments, she was considered as a potential threat and "creature" by some Twili and councellors, despite Chancellor Yzei's efforts and the help of some others. Therefore our little Aru is walking on thin ice for sure, and she knows some people are watching her constantly, waiting for a mistake or an uncontrolled action from her shard.
Despite all this, Aruyda will remain optimistic most of the time (fortunately)!

I hope one day she would find a significant other that can hold her in his arms and wipe away her tender tears...
(yeah, I have a soft spot for couples in moments of vulnerability as it shows that they are human after all)
Nice details on the OC character as well as 'shard' which glows more brightly than normal. (Although it does somehow look like a parasite to me, must be its design.)
I hope her life gets better soon...

Unfortunately Aruyda is a victim of her own father experiments. : ( It happened when she was a little kid and before she gets rescued from the Interlopers. This had many side effects (from simple physical changes, different powers, to attrocious pains, etc.) and many other Twili died during these suspicious rituals. Aruyda is the only one who survived the experiment, but it is unknown why (yet).
