some facts:
The water emerges from the very bottom of Zelenci, from the sediment of lacustrine limestone ("kreda"). It looks as if the water is pouring out of the little volcanoes, the phenomenon being of unique nature in Slovenia. All around the largest lake numerous sources - "tumfi" - are scattered, the shape of which resembles the shape of round windows. The water from the Zelenci sources is very clear and cold. Its temperature of 5-60C (around 420F) undergoes hardly any change during the year.

The area is also a home to some rare and unique animal species, as well as some rare and endangered plants.
