Description
FINALLY got around to updating Raigur'Ja as well! He reeeeally needed an update, visually and backstory wise. Raigur was originally just a blip on the radar, but I really love how he and Kruta game out.
Now, to eventually delve into her closer set of friends from the orphanage
Name : Raigur’Ja Futyr’vok
Age :248
Species : Allus, Kuros
Family : Tala’Ja - daughter, Futyr’Ja - father
Sole Element : Air/wind
Profession : Silverwing
Abilities : Raigur’Ja’s sole element is wind, though he rarely uses it as a breath. Instead he tailored his abilities to help him sense wind currents, turbulence, and to speed up his flight. He would often weaponize his wind abilities by creating sonic booms and his own currents to speed himself and others in battle. He was more skilled in flight than he was with his Claiothan (unique wing blades used by the Silverwings), though he was also formidable with them.
Personality : Aloof, cocky, a jokester. Raigur’Ja may not seem all that intimidating, but he was a celebrity among the Kuros. Silverwings are highly regarded and honored, and Raigur was one of the best among them; and he made sure everyone knew. Raigur was only serious during battles.
History : Despite being an open book about most things, Raigur is not eager to speak about his early life. This is because, before his village fell, he was a completely different dragon.
Raigur was once a brooding, serious dragon born in a harsh environment. His village was comprised of mostly wind/air Allus that lived in the peaks of Lahddoc’Geur, which translates to “Siren Peaks”. The mountains were called this for the winds were so harsh and dangerous that all life was blown away, leaving the environment with smooth, oddly carved shapes similar to rock formations formed by water. The Allus of this village lived by using the air currents to travel at high speeds to and from the eerie that the village was settled in. One of the few original villages claimed by the breed, the Allus from this village had their own dialect of the Kurosian language and have a certain look unique to them; armored scales similar to Brokt and slim bodies similar to Yinvaht. They also were highly renowned fliers, able to make split second decisions at top tier velocity.
Raigur was from the Ja line, one of the prominent families of the village. Because of this, Raigur was raised by strict parents, and had a lot to prove. While Siren Peaks was fortified enough from most enemies and beasts, their main concern were the Yoldahr. The wyverns usually don’t attack Kuros or their settlements, but legend spoke of Siren Peaks once belonging to them... before they forsook the Kurosian Gods. The capital of Kurosia found it difficult to protect Siren Peaks, given most Kuros couldn’t handle the harsh winds, so it was often up to the village grown Kuros to defend it. It was sacred enough to them to protect.
However, the day came when Yoldahr were brave enough to attack the village head on; a feat no thunder of Yoldahr had attempted before. The wyverns rarely worked together, yet a large cluster of them had, carrying hordes of Uka and other mindless beasts and dropping them off to wreak havoc on the village while they made their quick escape to grab more beasts. The attack was unexpected, and devastating. These gorilla attacks continued to happen over and over in irregular patterns, until finally the Kuros of the village had to abandon it. A handful of the eldest dragons of Siren Peaks stayed to die protecting the village while the others escaped.
Raigur lost most of his family in the battles, all but his daughter, Tala’Ja, and his father Futyr’Ja. His daughter was barely out of her egg when he was able to convince his father to leave with him instead of staying to fight for the village. They agreed to move to the capital, as many villages were forced to do. Tala’Ja was traumatized by the attack, so much so that she refused to fly. Raigur and Futyr’s strict attempts only worsened her fears, until one day Tala had a fit near a guard. The guard cooed the child and spoke to her so gently, Tala calmed faster than Raigur had ever seen. The guard was able to play and get her to laugh, so from then on her father decided to try and be kind. Slowly, the strict, stern Raigur grew to be more lenient and goofy, which helped his daughter eventually best her fears of flying. He was able to train her to be a nimble flyer, and during such a training session, an un-armored Silverwing noticed them.
The Silverwing tried to get them to apply, but Tala’Ja had other aspirations. While Raigur supported his daughter, his family’s status had lowered from prominent figures of the village, to mere hunters. To regain honor for the future of his bloodline, Raigur’Ja applied, and after decades of training became a renowned Silverwing.
Raigur met Feuriah by surprising her in the sky, something he liked to do to passing Kuros to tease them. She was carrying books from her college when he sped up behind her, nearly bumping into her. She somehow sensed him and was able to bank out of his way, which caught his eye. Not many could sense him flying as he was so quick, so he turned and introduced himself. He offered her a drink at a pub to properly apologize, and from there the two became friends. Hearing that she wanted to become Queen, he offered to train her in flight, but as he trained her he thought becoming a Silverwing was a more realistic and rewarding career for her. It didn’t take him long to meet Kruta, Feuriah’s colleague, who was fun to mess with. He found more enjoyment spending his free time with them and training Feuriah.
Raigur’Ja died during an uprising against another Kurosian city. Tala’Ja performed a Sky Dance in her father’s honor while Bhailiu was called, and as his soul rose from the flames of his body, it danced with his daughter one last time before his final flight to the Veil.
Trivia :
Tala’Ja grew up to be a professional SkyDancer, performing beautiful and elegant sky dances during festivals. She was able to gain fame this way, and open up her own school within Kurosia. It is believed Tala died during The Fall.
Futyr didn’t take to Raigur’s change until after he became a Silverwing, and in time he too loosened up. When Raigur’Ja died, not a tear was shed from Tala or himself. Instead, they both danced and sung with pride and joy, celebrating the life Raigur led and the honor he had returned to the Ja bloodline.
Raigur’Ja was bisexual, often prefering male partners. His Mjol was Indivar, another Allus that escaped from Siren Peaks. When Feuriah first met Indivar, she mistakened him to be related to Raigur, something he and Indivar never corrected and enjoyed leading Feuriah on to think while they were Mjol.
Raigur only had one daughter, but was planning on applying for a breeding contract before he died. His reason was because he wanted to ensure his family’s honor and status before breeding again, as he wanted to step down temporarily as Silverwing to help raise his clutch. The Ja family was strict, but tightly woven together.
Feuriah was the first female Raigur agreed to be the Mjol of. He had had female partners before, but didn’t become Mjol with one. He saw great potential within her and found attraction with her stubborn determination.
Before the battle of his death, Kruta gave Raigur a book he had tried to get her to read for years. Raigur almost tossed the book, as it was a romance novel and figured Feuriah deserved something more interesting to read. He didn’t think Kruta would die, but when he did, Raigur’Ja spent extra time helping Feuriah celebrate his life instead of grieve. This eventually got them close enough that a decade later, he became her Mjol.
Raigur’s dialect gave him more of a scottish accent, instead of the typical irish-like accent most Kuros tend to have. Kruta couldn’t get under his skin easily, but making fun of Raigur’s accent was one way to get back at him.
