Description Silver, sweetwater pearls, glass and a moonstone.

Made for a friend's wedding along with an elven looking, matching circlet. Suprisingly comfortable!
..Oh, how I hated soldering those thin bits.. should have gone all-out with wrapping instead. Or learn to solder better before trying this

Soldering and wire-wrapping. 2008.

teehee, awwo, im glad i could make your day ^.^ heh, and i meant every word of what i said i was afraid my comment might be too forward, cuz i usually don't blurt out comments with soo much praise (cuz most ppl would think im weird or juss answer with a ), heheh but when i saw this, i couldn't help myself xD it REALLY deserved it

and woohoo!! that's really nice to know :3 i really wanna learn, teehee. i can see a lotta of what you do is like wire wrapping or wire art, and stuff, but some of the metal looks like it's welded or something xD and how in the world do you make the metal frame for the biggest moonstone in the middle?? and thanx a lot for being open to questions and what not for the curious

p.s. ur signature or whatever that thing is under every1's comments made me giggle xD

Well, to be honest, I don't do much wire-wrapping.
I work a bit with loose rings and pearls and gem beads, but real wire-wrapping I never dried to any larger or advanced extent. This crown is a sample of one of my few wrapped items, but the joints is largely soldered, even on this fine wire-frame.

Most of the things you would find in my galleries are pierced out of a silver sheet, buffed/hammered to shape and then soldered into place. I rarely use finished pieces but start from scratch with every item. There are some exceptions but very few.

The setting for the drop-shaped moonstone in the middle is a stip of silver, shaped after the drop and soldered shut, then soldered to a base-plate to a backed bezel-setting. I then shaped the base plate, drilled holes in it and set the gem.
The gem actually broke in half while I was working on it, but thanks to the raw edges and milky colour of it I could fit the pieces together again and mend it with jewel glue. It doesn't show on the surface any more.

ahha, oh wow. i really wish i knew what you were talking about xD your incredible knowledge and use of terminology juss shows how pro u are, and on a skill level WAY beyond me xD i mean, i dun even know what solder means u_u i think i will need a bit more experience and gain a little more knowledge before i can attempt jewelry of this high standards. i am planning to take a metal-shop type class someday, so ill probably have to wait till then when i can learn to solder, buff, and hammer metal sheets but thanks soo much, i greatly appreciate you trying to help me out it's very generous of you

It did! I had many admiring comments and glances. Despite the fact that I was pregnant at the time and a tad on the large side, I still managed to look like an elven princess because of this necklace and matching tiara/crown.

It is adorable but I'd be afraid to wear it. Clumsy people like me should be kept away from delicate things like this.
