Beautiful

A moment of something so synthetic, brought to life by nothing more than a star.

i really enjoyed browsing the whole surface of the picture, all the details and shapes.
The lens flare is great touch, and I agree, waiting for the sun to roll around would be quite boring.

daring composition, you really nailed it, I think from your gallery I will make this a favorite,
its just so diverse, a great capture.

reminds me a lot of the silicon wafer you get when you produce micro processors cool shot indeed!

I'm guessing this is an architecture shot? Where is this? Either way, it's a great photo. I love the composition, lines, shapes and colors. The fringing at the top left is a bit distracting, but the lens flares in the bottom right look great. I guess you can't have one without the other.

Yes, it's the architecture in the center of a library in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Wonderful shot.. good angle, nice colours but I think you should've let the lens flare out. First of all because it wasn't there (as you said yourself; it is a post-production element) so it doesn't "belong" to the photograph and it distracts too imo.

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion But it was important to me to have it in there as a reinforcement of the metaphor behind the photo.

Thanks for commenting

I very much like how the photo concentrates on pure shape and form, as well as light, through the composition and colour. It seems as if this whole structure was built to appreciate how beautiful light - scattered in the right way - can make everything look.

I was gonna ask where it was taken, but I see you've answered it a few times... Maybe you should add it to the artist's comment. I wouldn't have expected this to be taken in a library; very beautiful

Everything I ever heard about shapes and lines coming together and being placed just right to have the most impact in a photograph is right there. I really think it's perfect.

Great shot, the repeating circles are very cool. Definatly love how this is not centered, makes it much more interesting. I think my favorite part though is how you can break it down into parts so earily, The dome...the rainbow plates, and the inside roof. All layed onto of each other. I have to say the lens flare is a little distracting for me...by really that is just being over picky. All the other elements in the picture over shadow that greatly.

welder In reply to RedTalonTPF [2004-03-10 16:14:18 +0000 UTC]

Actually, I added the lens flare in post production to reinforce the imposition of circular shapes and "fusion" from the sun

RedTalonTPF In reply to welder [2004-03-10 22:22:45 +0000 UTC]

Oh I was wondering why the lens flare looked so soft hah. Actually now that you mention it I guess it does repeat the circle pattern, strengthing the theme of it all.

First time I've seen flares not getting in the way. Nicely incorporated!
Oh btw, those squares remind me of silicon chips you see on those old Intel/IBM ads.

The most stunning part of this photo is the dynamics born with the angle, and the composition, my lord, it's perfect! The shadows on the right are so nice too, subtle but needed. Good work (as always dare I say?)

What a lovely shot, wish we had such interesting libarys in Denmark too! The angle of this shot is simply crazy, but beautiful at the same time, the flare looks very beautiful, and gives a rare touch into this shot
I really find this shot nice and abstract. Quite nice composition, so much difference in one shot, not often you see that

Acutally no, the flare is not natural. I couldn't wait around for several hours for the sun to get into the right position, so I had to add the flare in post production
