Description Yet another costume picture. There's a theme in here somewhere...

My biggest frustration with this picture is that it was too close to the bottom of the page. It started out with her having shorter legs, but once the whole sketch was done, I realized her legs were too short. Lengthening them, though, puts them in danger of stepping off the paper. Sigh.

A good artist would have transfered the whole thing to another sheet of paper and started over.

The thing I like the most in this painting are the trees. They looked horrible at first, so I went back in with colored pencils and drew all the silly pine needles. It works for me, now.

Really good, I particularly enjoy the way you draw the hair. Great patterns on the clothing as well.

I gotta love this just because it has the word 'russian' in the title
heh~ a good artist also knows when not to give up. Who knows what would have happened to the picture if you redid it...it might have ended up worse O_o

Your tree are uncommonly lovely; in this and in others here. Beautiful costume; you nail the Russian feel of it and give it a very creative turn. Do you wear, or have access to, actual clothes like this? You've included a couple details that I wouldn't think someone who was not used to clothing of this type would catch.

I don't have any Russian clothes, no. I looked at several books and websites to snag details and cloth patterns that I liked, but just kinda made up the costume itself.

I do love making and designing costumes, but have never made one anything like this.

Now I'm curious what details I got right!

Why do you called it Russian?

Partly because I was reading Russian Fairy Tales at the time. Also, the patterns on her clothes and the basic design of the costume is (supposed to) look Russian.

That's very nice
I like the whole wintery feel and the fur trees in the bg. Nice design on the girl's outfit as well, very detailed and the colors are pretty deep and rich.

I guess the artist is the one that sees the flaws... but the rest of us see a perfect picture!

Even with the short legs, its incredibly beautiful. All the different colors are a great contrats to the trees. Nice job!

Very cool, love the colors. I would say more of a gypsy type archer. Very well done, I love your colors.

I agree with ~hobbitfreak - the detail in the trees is completely worth the effort!!
I love the detail in the / ground berries in the background as well.
And, I think how the costume colours blend nicely with the pines, it looks like a good camouflage to me!!

The proportion see pretty perfect to me - she looks slightly bent at the waist as if ready to recoil with the bow at any second - VERY well done!

Oh - I almost missed the raven on her shoulder. I think it's because he's the same colour as her raven hair (well that was a pretty DUH comment I just made, wasn't it?) - at first I though she had a side style pony tail, which looked cool, but finally seeing the raven makes more sense

I think what I'm trying to say is that I really really like her!!!

The detail in this is great, especially in those trees. (; Going back to them paid off, I think. And I love her costume.
