Description
The cities, towns, sanctuaries and sacred mountains of Classical Hellas, or, as we like to call it, classical Greece (between the Ionian revolt of 499 BC and the beginning of Alexander's reign in 336 BC). Colonies in Gaul, Iberia, Libya and on the Pontic coast omitted. The situation in Sicily reflects only the 4th century BC, when most Sicel cities in the east adopted the Greek language. The Sicels would be completely assimilated by Greeks during the 3rd century BC.
