Description

Just a quick map I made depicting a scenario where Japan accepted the League of Nation's Lytton Report. The report detailed the Manchurian Incident and concluded that while Japan had a stake in Manchuria that was under threat by Chinese actions, the actions of the Kwantung army could not be considered self-defense and Manchukuo could not be recognized as an independent nation established by a desire for self-determination. Historically Japan rejected the report due to its vested interest in establishing Manchukuo and public outcry against the League.
The report then made a list of recommendations for preventing war in Manchuria onwards. To list a few, Manchuria was to be demilitarized, Japanese and Russian interests were to be protected, Manchuria would become an autonomous region within China, and this autonomous region would be overseen with an international judiciary court.
This map depicts the main points I listed above, with the three provinces of Manchuria (東北三省) split off from China into an autonomous region. The primary railways of the region are highlighted to show which nation owned what, as both the Chinese Eastern Railway and South Manchuria Railway proved to be magnets for diplomatic incidents, culminating in the Manchurian Incident of 1931.
